Nice one Harry, guage looks great, my monster unit showed up yesterday, not looking forward to chopping up subby on bandit, are you still using stock airbox?, i prob should go back through yuor thread just thought quicker to ask you.. i was hoping to use the airbox as i recently got a spankers K&N and carbon side covers but i think im going to have to opt for K&N pods and use valuable realestate for battery, monster unit is so minimal, i love it but have to work out where im going to put everything, good thing theres not much to the old bandit..

g'day gitzy how goes it mate,it's a big no on the standered air box mate,K&N pod's are the go mate due to the busa shock being a tad larger than standered bandit.your right about the lack of room for electric's it's going to be tight...try raising the seat height a tad to leave room for a small under tray to house the cdi, fuse box ect.im told the yami r6 has a nice little gel battrie that might help out with saving a bit of room.im not sure about it yet gitzy as i havent had time to do jack shit to the bike and it looks like im work'in all week-end again this week end[V] im going to take a week off soon so i can get some shit done to it...it's drag'in on ![xx(]

Nice one Arry !

I had a B12 in 1999 and loved it to death !
Did`nt mod it very much, slapped a decent race can on it, disconnected the restrictor plug under seat..... and just put loads of smiles on it.
Ultra reliable big motor Zuke [:p]

B12s have been done to death on the streetfighter scene, so its good to see summat original :)

I kept the B12 for a year and then traded it for a ZZR1100 for the speed [:p]
Had a load of other bikes since and an appointment with death on my 1st Busa in 2001, sidestepped the fugger though and have an even more mental passion for speed now...

A few mates have the new water cooled B12s but they arent the same ?
The originals are best [8D]

yet another lash at the ducati shop today picking up the rear seat cowl, that's just about it bar some indercator's.i did buy a couple of headlights (a few posts up) but after holding them up against the bike iv decided there not for this bike so iv ordered a headlight off a harly V-Rod..picking the correct size mount's is becoming a real hassle due to the top of the fork legs going from 50mm to 52mm to 54mm in a space of 10cm ! look's like i have to wait for the light to show up befor i can get an idea on where to fix the mount's..bit of a drama cause the mounts im after have to come from the U S. Still waitting for cam links from the U K ordered a month ago (not happy):(..either way nearly every thing is there so next is the sub-frame that has been dogging me for so long, just have http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1253597819.jpg

Fark Harry, I bet that seat pod cost a few bob mate. I brought one for my Monster from a company in germany that made fibreglass knock-off's for about $60.00, granted it needed a b it of sanding and filling but it was a 1/4 the cost of the Ducati jobby.

Front guard will fit, know from experience!

First major measurements that need clearing up are the diameter of the discs and the lower triple diameter. At this stage i'm led to believe they are 320mm and 56mm respectively. Also wouldn't mind knowing the unloaded fork length and dimensions of the axle but they are less important!

Thanks heaps for that!

im pretty sure your right on the disc's pete dont know bout the fork length or axle but putting busa rolling ends on a bandit drop's em heaps..the seat height is down to about 780mm. i bought the front and rear end's from victorian motorcycle wreckers complete the head bearing's are the same as the standered bandit although they run under a different part number,if your going to run this front end on a bandit you will have to get a new stem made....you'll need another 4 threads on it to get it to fit,so apart for the stem busa front ends will go straight on mate.the ass end is a different story the mod is quite extreme to the frame,i was going to mill the swing arm to suit the frame but the guy who did it (niccom engineering in Brisbane)went the other way and modifided the frame, there's quite a few pic's in the thread on it...hope this was a help to ya pete.

gitzy i don't know about beating ya mate, cutting the sub off was easy.......it's the new sub that's proving to be a prick to do. got to be home and not at work to finish it:( if i put a weld on it im sure to blow a hole in the frame (it's thin) and im not going to chance it dude,im going to come off the inside of the frame not the back...chrissy i hope!

i finally got time to attack the build over chrissy and get a bit done, first up was the headlight (v-rod) that has dogged me for so long trying to get part's form hardly davidson who wanted to send it out screw by screw making me put in around 5 orders befor i had the complete item (much frustration)...the bracket's i ordered from the state's where to fit 54mm leg's,it was a bit of a guess due to the busa leg's being 50 52 and 54mm in a space of about 10cm,it turned out looking like a broken nose on a friday nite so i bought some 3mm rubber to fit them to the 50mm leg section anhttp://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262607066.jpg

the mirror's i got where the fit normal bars with a minimum of 14mm opening on the end's so it was out with various size drill's to open up the end of the clip-on's to fit then...this was a major pain in the ass due to not having a drill press so it was one hand full of drill and another on the bike while i drilled them out to take the mirrors...several beer stop's !http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262550300.jpg

next up was the sub frame that's been missing for so long,it wanted a extendable system that would pull out and tilt to 45 odd degree's using a gas strut like the rear door on a car but it was proving to be a nightmare to build so i just went for a slider that would do away with have to take the seat off and give good access to the electric's in the under tray which is still to be made, something in mirrored stainless will be the go to keep it looking clean, but it's a bit down the road at this stage.the rear end slide's out around 500mm and is completely removeable if required,im yet to work out a retractable system for the wiring to the rear light and indercator's but i might just put it all into a plug that i can disconnect with ouhttp://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262550610.jpg

the finished sub came up good with only one fix up of the duct tail being around 4mm out and rubbing on the steel on a brace section which was corrected the next day, many thank's to shane for his toil who would only take a carton of piss and a pouch of tabaco for all the work done...cheer's mate your a champ:)http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262544956.jpg

now with the bike out off the way for awhile it was time to do something with the motor that had been hammered with weather since 1996,it's been sitting in the corner of the shed for a few month's since having the gear box totally re-built and the top end re-freshed...hone ring's bearing's ect. a brass brush and a heap of sand paper soon cleaned it up ready for painthttp://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262557229.jpg

after a squirt off black VHT engine enamel i thought it was a tad to black....if that's possible[}:)] so iv got'in into it with pot belly black and a splash of brass on the starter,a quick rub with a bit of sand paper then polished then a squirt of clear on the oil return line and alt to change the look... http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1262613761.jpg

Harry, just be real careful with those Gilles chain adjusters ;)

I`m not quite sure what the problem is, either installation or in quality, but....... they do break.

One of my Busa riding mates had one snap while he and the mrs were on the bike while overtaking.

They walked away.... God knows how [:0]

His experience was`nt unique either.
Gilles were less than interested when he tried to recoup the cost of mending his bike.

Terrifying event went like this:

Gilles adjuster one side snapped, slams the rear wheel into the swingarm, wrecking the tyre and rim. Chain snaps with the twist on it, rips a hole in the swingarm and rear undertail and then slashes his wife across her leg as the chain exits the bike. Smashed rear sprocket and all sorts....

As I say all this happened while he`s accelerating overtaking a car.
I do not know how he kept it upright !!!!

still not done rod i got side tracked with the sub frame mate, thinking im going to have to leave it until the frame is powder coated..then i can do the gear linkage and the clutch actuator shaft at the same time mate,i did'nt have time to measure it but the linkage on my slingshot look's like it could do the job

You're an A class builder Harry and a first class bloke. Judging by the feedback your getting on this one, I'm not the only one to think it Harry.

2010 AFR, you'll piss it easy mate. Looking forward to the finished build so crack on buddy.
