thanks heaps for the hints mates, i'll check up the nyalic, 'sit like wax stuff?

out of sudden today i got a chance to get the bike off my work, needless to remind you where i work and needless to say i grabbed it

Wow, unreal. Just looks like a ball of mechanical muscle.
Re. Nyalic, not a wax, goes on just like any spraypaint. I've used it on my polished VFR wheels (no more polishing, just wash them!), on my parents XB GT steering wheel that I restored, on my 35 year old fibreglass canoe... I always keep some around. The fact that the current spraypack is 9 years old is evidence of my lack of project time in that period, coincidentally the eldest of my three kids is 9 years old :) But the remnants of that can will be going on this thing as soon as I get my arse into gear and polish the frame and apply the custom 'chrome red' decals I had made for it:
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3753/10797393483_c8aa961f1d_b.jpg
The Aussie distributor Jeff has been the man for Nyalic for at least the last ten years and is very helpful if you have any queries. I don't know him personally and have nothing to do with the business or product, just a very satisified customer. I can't believe so few people know about the stuff to be honest. Maybe it's time for Jeff to move over for a more committed marketer.
i see, thanks heaps phantom
now when ive made a final make up i want it all matt black

less than 200kg not bad! was surprised that bigger weight lies on the front wheel
first off shortened and partly reshaped the scoop, 'coz when it'd got free from oil coolers, it became protruding too far ahead and if moved back, it'd block the kick stand

Masonry drills like that work pretty well on hardened steel if you sharpen it...
yup i think i used them already drilling stainless steel a few years back. this time i drilled a 3 mm heat treated ally tho
pay attention to the latest pics above, the kick stand's straight and too short, and went under the chain and too close to the swinger. since the susps adjustable it needs an adjustable kick stand
so i cut off its heel, bent the leg aside on a hand tube bender (a small one), cut out a 40mm length of tubing to replace it with a threaded extention if the same length + 10mm extension on the lower part
btw the kick stand's made from stainless so i used the same material for extensions and nuts, the theaded rods made from heat treatable stainless steel and will be heat treated tomorrow

I do love this build, details are great
thanks heaps mates! ozzy im glad you like the bloody kick stand unless you're sarcastic lol
actually i can't see anything special about it, im a fan of buell xb's ally kick stand which i improved a bit
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Ozzlem666/OZZLEM_85.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Ozzlem666/OZZLEM_85.jpg.html)

the rear suspensions turned out to be a tad stiff to say the least so im gunna sort out the bugger
dissasembled the shock first
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF1314.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF1314.jpg.html)

received a clutch master cyl from '11 zx 14 zero mile bike, just because i wanted it matching to the brake master cyl, $175+51
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF0474.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF0474.jpg.html)
also 3 matching reservoirs to use 'em around
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF0475.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF0475.jpg.html)

and thats what it caused, the ex owner was a bloody lucky bastard, but still just a fucking bastard!

now thats what i figured out concerning the rear susp stiffness. obviously, the dog bones to swinger mount is too low on the gixer swinger compared to the b12 swinger, thats why progression doesnt work
wrong way
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF0476arrowed.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF0476arrowed.jpg.html)
right way
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF0477arrowed.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF0477arrowed.jpg.html)
a medicine is
1. to use a higher profile rocker
2. to use a longer shock
btw, the susp starts working when the bikes lowered, coz the angles'd change and become 'workable'

Do you have Autocad, really helps in situations like these!
Happy to draw a simple diagram if you give me the dimensions.
thanks lots Hagarr i believe ive sorted it out with the pics, later i'll buy smth like that http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/z/IE4AAOxy0x1TWdd9/$_57.JPG and play with home made rockers configuration

You can get copied versions, I've used the 2009 ACAD version for years (2D)
Paid about 10,000 Baht which was about 5 bucks Oz from memory.
Theres always someone going to Bali from Oz if you ever want us to grab you a copy.
Actually I can probably copy the one I've got if you wanted.

Couldn't find the "free" download, $10 is pretty cheap I guess for personal use.
thanks heaps Hagarr and Mohawk, i have a lot of progs on my puter but no time to study 'em, may be later lol
any one in the know of 2011-2013 GSXR 600/750s shock length?
Hagarr
10-05-2014, 11:32 AM
There's a shock length sticky in one of the sections Surt. Technamickle section if I remember.
thanks Hagarr!
yup ive seen the table but it ends up with '04-'06 models like everywhere. but ive bought the above mentioned shock, pretty sure its longer than bandits and i'll be able to play with triangles anyway
figured out how to make the plenum securing mounts the best way and started their implementation

Normally the bottom of the shock point crosses through the line you have drawn
for the dog-bone linkage that mounts off the swing arm. Hense the need for two links,
one running either side of the shock.
Not knocking yours, just saying its a little different and I know changing the angles and
the ratios has a dramatic effect on compression, but you'll know more than me.
Mine looks more like this google image...
http://s12.postimg.org/6bfubs62l/image.jpg (http://postimage.org/)
i hear you Tony, thanks heaps for the tip, im gunna keep the ratios but i can fuck up with angles, as i used to a coupla times before.
so ive drawn another variant like yours
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/Hades_Ride/DSCF1082-2_zpsmb9m67cm.jpg (http://s112.photobucket.com/user/Hades_Ride/media/DSCF1082-2_zpsmb9m67cm.jpg.html)
and then kinematic schemes for 3 variants, mine look good. yours has a limited turn angle of the swinger but bigger shock travel which is important. i'll sort different variants with a mock up

I get a head ache thinking about this stuff! Lol
I picture the cast 3 pointed link (your blue) as turning clockwise under load.
Then look at the point where the dog bone link joins it.
On all mine this point is rearwards and has an upwards swing.
On your design it is forward and closer to a point where it would go the other way (I know it won't)
Something in my head wants to see the angle between where the dogbone joins the 3 point linkage and
the 3 point linkage joins the frame to be 90-degrees or more where yours is a lot less.
Ive used different links to raise bikes and it firms up the suspension quite a bit and I've
used other links to lower bikes for learners and the suspension go's quite soft.
Admittedly mine were with the stock shock and stock 3-pointed link, just different dogbones.
I'm probably wrong and out by a mile !! Keep me informed and I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Your well beyond what I've done and I'm happy to learn from it. Thanks.

If it were me, I'd reverse it all, use a rocker from the swingarm, with the shock mounted midway, then have short dog bones from the end of this rocker vertically up to the frame.
thats my latest idea slingy, it gets better travel
slingy88

thats my latest idea slingy, it gets better travel
If you make the rocker with rose joints on the swingarm arm end, you could have some adjustment of the length of the rocker, which in turn will adjust the distance of the lower shock mount in relation to the swingarm pivot which will give you a bit of adjustment over the leverage on the shock and how hard the suspension is. The frame end dog bones should just allow for this movement.
thanks Tony and Jack, its not a question of construction on this stage, but is about kinematics, rose joints or else would be another one.
here are my 'blue prints' off the monitor
my 1st variant, it gives a good turn angle for the swinger, but poor travel for the shock
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/Hades_Ride/DSCF1536_zps5c2hjskc.jpg (http://s112.photobucket.com/user/Hades_Ride/media/DSCF1536_zps5c2hjskc.jpg.html)
heres tony's variant, the turn angle is limited, but probably enough for the swinger travel, the shock's travel is progressive, twice as big than the swinger travel. like its supposed to be.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/Hades_Ride/DSCF1537_zps1nsb69di.jpg (http://s112.photobucket.com/user/Hades_Ride/media/DSCF1537_zps1nsb69di.jpg.html)
and my latest variant, everythings just compact and fine, the turn angle is big and the shocks travel is progressive. gonna try this way on a mockup
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/Hades_Ride/DSCF1538_zpsphd4vm4z.jpg (http://s112.photobucket.com/user/Hades_Ride/media/DSCF1538_zpsphd4vm4z.jpg.html)
