You are a mad fucking nutter Surt.
In a good way.
why i dont build a rocket bike. yet...
thanks lots blokes your moral support is precious for me besides other assets lol
havent had a chance to continue welding the holes around bungs therefore trimmed the i.c. side plates instead

the i.c. levitates, bloody miracle!

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5107.jpg
will have to set the coolers off to the right due to the compressor housing
will be hidden by scoops tho
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5108.jpg
the coolers r prolley gunna be set at the same angle but i don't promise

Nice try Surt..cause of all the people we want here you are on the short list ..what if we swap you for a current and a deposed prime minister..surely they can find a use for them cause we cant here..mate i just re read the first sentence of this thread and it made me laugh..
holy shit Morry all you have to do is to comfirm that you're my father
as for madam Gillie from wat i heard you'd donate her to some african cunt'ry's zoo
just checked up this thread beginning what can i say? the story of my life, saw the ride fast and simple but in for a penny in for a pound... and sheilas just can't wait till the bikes finished bwahaha!
the bungs for fuel pick up and return as well as for tank vent and engine vent are all made
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5115.jpg
breather nipple's gotta be turned away off i.c. piping
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5116.jpg
been workin out the best location for the bungs, the lowerest point of the tank for fuel pick up is the front part of the "sink" so be it! pretty close to the head cover thats why the bungs r welded directly in the tank instead of using traditional scheme where weld on metric bung with metric to AN adapters are used...

rear mounts are simple as
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5138.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF5138.jpg.html)

but they do their job alright - the tank can be easily removed or just raised
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF5141.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF5141.jpg.html)

Fair enough mate. Any interesting out of the 4 cheap bikes?
all of them 4 r interesting to me mate coz they r my babies
not that im gunna just to refresh their paint and to sell off well judge yourself, here r 4 new rides, 3 of them i call quickies like having fast sex with a bike bwahaha
1. a Blasphemy project: a '96 virago 535, now stripped off, its frame and tank r 110mm stretched, a hardley's single carb mod, a straight thru exhaust, a fresh paintjob
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/The Blasphemy/DSCF0037.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/The Blasphemy/DSCF0037.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/The Blasphemy/DSCF1008.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/The Blasphemy/DSCF1008.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/The Blasphemy/DSCF1035.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/The Blasphemy/DSCF1035.jpg.html)
2. a Nightrider project dedicated to the Mad Max movie character, a 84 kz750 ltd (shafty) is stripped, the engine is dissasembled completely for restoring (its barrels and pistons r scratched and rings r worn off, so i bought a gpz750 engine to borrow cyl block and pistons from it) and powder coating, the harleyish looking bastard is gunna turn into a cafe racer, so a custom tank and seat unit r soon to be born lol
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0042.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0042.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0107.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0107.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0198.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0198.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF1006.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF1006.jpg.html)
actually firstly i intended to convert it to a chain drive and researched that it could be easily done, here, the shafty motor with the sprocket installed
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0128.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0128.jpg.html)
and see the difference
el shafto's (or ciabtos lol)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0126.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0126.jpg.html)
dick chainy's
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/DSCF0127.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/DSCF0127.jpg.html)
but after good reckoning i refuted the mod for building a brand new cafe fighter named Kawasooka
3. a Kawasooka project. the same gpz engine with the same kz worn out cyl block but bored off for +3mm wiseco kit (already bought and eagerly expected)... i looked for a frame and papers for the future bike and bought that
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0178.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0178.jpg.html)
but the engine was to big for the frame
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0194.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0194.jpg.html)
so i stretched the frame haha
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/Kawasooka/08e691b5-1d38-4d3c-955b-8d8824cb719c.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/Kawasooka/08e691b5-1d38-4d3c-955b-8d8824cb719c.jpg.html)
now its big enough for any engine lol
but then i decided to build a frame either from polished stainless steel or ally, so now im lookin for alpha numeral bits of that type
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0230-G.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0230-G.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0230-A.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/the nightrider/Kawasooka/DSCF0230-A.jpg.html)
4. a Katorga/Gulag project is about cross breeding a ural with my b12 leftovers: the front end, tank and seat. to bad that i threw away the bandits cut frame (the upper tubes), so now im gunna make them anew
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/902a1091-a53e-4550-9a89-0b7cf3f7e29d.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/902a1091-a53e-4550-9a89-0b7cf3f7e29d.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/DSCF5175.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/DSCF5175.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/DSCF5176.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/DSCF5176.jpg.html)
the b12 tank was pretty much fucked up so i had to make an autopsy lol
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/DSCF1017.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/DSCF1017.jpg.html)
then sand blasted it, not really successful for the inside part, the bloody silicone filler or what ever it was didn't surrender
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/DSCF1018.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/DSCF1018.jpg.html)
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/Katorga/DSCF1019.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/Katorga/DSCF1019.jpg.html)
then i cut out the upper part with the fuel throat to weld in a new one instead, no pics sorry
also the rear wheel will be borrowed from the b400 above and a custom ally swinger will be made... not really a quickie but i can't help it bahaha!

my coming home to the land of Oz is being postponed for a while... well Oz is where I am \m/
when i was a kid, i read in a book that one bloke had build a bike from a Singer's old german sewing machine and a few bike parts. the deed stuck in my head for years and i decided to prove that that wasn't a fable. but i had to build a sewing machine first

now thats when my weight lifting came in hand - to roll about a 200 kg bike and not to damage anything. none the less she bit me by the fuck funger, having jammed it between the frame and lower yoke. thus the hell dog's been baptised in my blood. perhaps she avenged me for neglecting the project for 6 long months or was she just hungry?

Any thoughts on how you are going to protect the oil coolers Surt ? They look like they'll wear everything coming off the front wheel.
a mesh grill if you mean protection from and stones and not ride out in the rain
a 3mm ally sheet. took 3 blokes to bent it

It's a shame that it has to come so high at the front to protect the cooler, looks like a slab. Is there no way you could keep the pointed scoop as it is at the front but incorporate a single flap upwards (and set back) to cover the cooler? From the side it would be invisible and keep the scoop and then from the front it would protect the cooler.
awesome idea Si i luv flaps bahaha!

Yea man, that's the shape! That will tie in nicely with the tail.
yup Si and follows the outlines of the tank as well
the 1st variant looks nice but i found it uncomfortable for sitting, its front corners hurt legs and the back was too short and i was unwilling to use the welder, i'd rather make another try
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF1194.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF1194.jpg.html)

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF1196.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF1196.jpg.html)

the seats made from a 2.5mm heat treated hard ally sheet, the seat's turned out strong enough to be bolted straight to the frame without the seat subbie. had to use the sledgehammer to bend it. then mullets and e'wheel made their part nice
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF1200.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF1200.jpg.html)
the gaps r non significant, but i'll continue e'wheeling tomorrow
another idea came into my head - to make recesses in the seat like in the subbies and scoop and to upholster it with the recesses exposed, hopefully you get what i mean
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/Surt_Rafrrirr/DSCF1201.jpg (http://s1175.photobucket.com/user/Surt_Rafrrirr/media/DSCF1201.jpg.html)
btw i weighted the new parts,
oil coolers and subbie 4200g
the scoop 2500g
the seat 1000g so far
taken awhile to make the 2.5mm seat base follow the subbie profile but now im quite happy with the result. now it weighs just 800g and less than 2kg with subbie!

did you sketch this design before you started the build or is this just morphing as you go along?
Bloody ripper ride this is going to be and good on you for having the patience to continue!

Don't worry my Harris is an ongoing transformation since the day I bought it back in 1983.
That's why I make the comment as to keeping the drive as I can understand (as wel as many others on here would atest) what it takes to keep going!
There's a book that Aprilia were involved with years ago , can't remember the name at the moment, which explained in detail the effects of changing wheelbase sprocket centre position amongst a few things and was a really great read.
Only problem is I reckon if you read this book before modifying your bike you'd be too scared to make any changes LOL!
Have you based your dimensions on a known set of values (bike?)
Oh and by the way finally got some shots of my mates Egli which I promised to send you, they're a bit lacking in detail but the effort to do what he's done is hidden a lot in the bodywork, painting etc.
He changed the Egli thinking a bit in how the engine was cradled by the frame but if you've ever seen an Egli frame, Man are they thin tubing, you'd understand.
Anyway, awesome keep going Man!

thanks lots for the feedback mates, really appreciate!
well i dont like everything about the bike, the oil coolers placement to be exact
so i decided to consult to Dave Dunlop from fastbyme turbo systems concerning the needed size and some other stuff
heres it:
"Surt Rafrrirr
hi Dave what size oil coolers do you use on your turbo charged b12s? my 14&15 row coolers are a wee bit overkill?
Dave Dunlop
I use a 16 row deep on et with b12 motors And just standard 19 row on Gsxr
Surt Rafrrirr
thanks heaps for reply mate how about piistons and con rods?
Dave Dunlop
Pistons ... If u can afford proper je or weisco , ,mtc Or budget used busa ... Rods dependants on what u plan
Surt Rafrrirr
yup i know about the wiseco and carrillo, i wonder how much boost a stock setup woud endure, from you experience?
Dave Dunlop
I've run 10psi on medium sized turbo chargers ... Reliable and over 40 thousand miles
Surt Rafrrirr
i see. i put on a bigger chinese t4/t5, intercooled and megasquirt. so the aim is to have a huge potential and not to blow up the engine before i sell the bike lol. then i have another project on a wait list which is just a mid size turbo and cv carb setup, thanks heaps for replies mate! sorry for disturbance, atm im on a sickie and have no business to do but bothering people haha
Dave Dunlop
For a start if it's a t4/5 by the time that spools up it will destroy the motor ..... What engine ???????
Surt Rafrrirr
b12 stock
Dave Dunlop
With a t4/5 ??
Surt Rafrrirr
yup thats what i was advised, i was into smaller turbos
Dave Dunlop
Well I can tell u right now that's far too large .... U will break that motor
Surt Rafrrirr
sorry just checked up, its a t03\t04 http://www.ebay.com/itm/270926439363?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Dave Dunlop
That makes better sence 225 ish at 7 psi
Surt Rafrrirr
yeah cool!"
therefore, i leave just a 15 row cooler which is gunna move upstairs to its original place under the neck, the 2nd one and awesomely awesome mounts r moving to the shelf.
the move will let me to lower the bike as i planned from the beginning
yesterday receved 16\42t sprockets (hopefully i aint gunna fuck up with the ratio) and the braided hose cutter, well it works!

the tanks finished just wondering how to tidy up the seams, any thoughts?

yip Si, i considered that but just because im a lazy cunt and hate finishing things making them look perfect, but i'd also stay away of a rat bike look to kick arse them bike manufacturers so the bike must look as factory as i can make it, thanks for your comments that helped me to come to the conclusion hehe

09-03-2014, 08:32 AM
After you clean the tank up, get it blasted. This will give it an even colour all over, but can be hard to clean. Might still need clear lacquer.
Oh, and looking bloody great Surt.

+1 for a light sandblast , gives a nice matt finish and hides the welds a little without having to file them back. If you file finish first the welds will vanish. Then a clear coat over the top to keep it clean (finding a clear that wont yellow over time on Ali is tricky though)
The Phantom
10-03-2014, 10:03 AM
The clear to use is Nyalic (aka EverBrite). I have been using it for years, it's pricey but absolutely the ducks guts.
- won't yellow
- self levelling
- clean up with metho
- UV inhibitors
- self blending (just spray on any scratches and it will blend to the existing coat!)
- indefinite shelf life
I am still using the last spraypack I bought in 2006... it was $55 then, as I said it's not cheap, but it is worth the money...
