Feel like an ass for not already having offered this but if any of you guys need welding or fab work done let me know. I have a workshop in wangara and my housemate has a workshop in forrestfield.
We have ultra high pressure blasting equipment if u need anything stripped or cut into small pieces, an XY table on the way if u need things water cut. Im set up for stainless and mild steel, mig, stick and tig but setting up for ally soon. Ado has a comprehensive workshop specifically for boilermaking in forrestfield if its closer to you.
Either way, we're both into the bike scene and happy to help if we can.
Small job invoices can be paid in coldies, anything larger will obviously be at mates rates.
Within reason..No Deathstars, fucking rebel cunts end up costing u a fortune..

Good stuff Azrael, that will be handy.
I've recently bought myself a smallish milling machine and once I learn how to use the thing, I'm also happy to help make any bits out of ally.
Also, anyone who actually knows how to use a mill is welcome to come around and show me some shit. I have swinger extensions and triple clamps on my list and am currently buying various cutters and whatnots so I can do everything I need.
It would be great if out of all the WA guys, we get enough people with enough gear to do any jobs we need to do either free or cheap.
I have access to a large lathe and mills for bar ends etc. at my brothers shop in Jandakot.
Rocket, I will be out your way Thrsday if you want that ally to practice on.:)

yeh stainless pipes are no probs, i have 2 high frequency tigs and a scratch start, waiting for the 3phase to set up in the workshop as its brand new an the wall are bare of power sockets or anything else for that matter. cept crap, lots and lots of crap..
as you can see here, this small corner is the only are set up for welding an i had to run power from the toilets..
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/843672260150515.jpg
Should have the 3 phase done in coming weeks and the xy table hopefully within four weeks, with that we can cut steel, plastic, some glass and ceramics, wood, granite etc so could also be usefull for triple clamps etc, then do your finishing on the mill? Dunno, just a thought..

mmmmmm ceramic fork clamps!
Rocket
29-04-2008, 06:31 PM
Yeah mate, i really have no idea how I'm gunna get them done yet, but having them cut out first then finishing off on the mill would save a lot of work.
I was considering laser cutting them to start with but if your water jet can sort it, then it's all good.

here's a project for ya.. reckon you could do a fighter nose cowl for my bike out of ally chequer plate ? ^_^
Azrael
30-04-2008, 06:43 PM
Like a headlight surround?
Im planning on building an english wheel but im not sure how well chequer plate would go through it hehe on the other hand you can do a lot with a blow torch, wooden mallet and a wet bucket of sand..
Eukanuba
01-05-2008, 04:14 PM
yeah, a headlight surround.. but i'm wondering if we can work around the original lights on my bike.. cos i kinda like the idea of being able to see where i'm riding out near byford/kwinana.. bloody roo's everywhere.. and those nasty sharp corners..

tom, can ya weld alum yet?.. might need some risers on my top yoke
Azrael
16-05-2008, 08:50 PM
Ok, here's where we're at.
We are expecting the XY table to get here fri week (subject to the 250k finace thingy) at the latest (here's hoping) and we have to get all the 3phase put in before then so as soon as the power is sorted im into the ally.
An when i say into the ally i mean this..
We are planning to produce some bike parts in various materials off the xy table such as sprockets, bar risers, triple clamps, brake disks and possibly levers rear sets etc.
The bulk of the work being done on the table and the machining done through a mate.
The aim is to have the ability to personalise things such as disk brakes and sprockets with names logos designs etc as well as being able to make quality parts cheaper everyone.
Two ways you can help should you choose too.
1: If you have old sprockets, disk brakes or other parts for commmon or uncommon bikes lying around that i can borrow and measure to work out the spacings etc that would be most helpfull. I am keen to do mx sprockets etc too..
2: If you have any ideas that you think could be cut on an xy table and finished with welding and or machining please let me know. we will have a crack at anything..
Anyone who helps out will be rewarded with free and or cheap stuff (materials only), i have no doubt that with the collective "brains trust" we have here we could build almost anything and start making custom fabrications easier and cheaper for the average punter.
Oh this is not the sole purpose of us buying an xy table, it is predominantly for industrial use so anyone who needs mass uhp water cuting done, we can cut anything from 1mm to 30mm in almost any material.
What are your thoughts? Critisism welcome, we are not new to cuting shit up with high pressure water but new to xy tables..

Got a set of K2 rorors you could measure up, not uncommon I know but if you want em I can post them over.
I'm going to be stripping the 1400 over june and lee is doing the same to the XJR so we will both have sprockets, torque arms, oil cooler covers and anything else like that. I might hit you up for some better bar risers and headlight mounts?

Azrael
12-06-2008, 07:39 PM
I like the idea of putting the knuckle duster handle on some polished stainless beer mugs.. thats gonna be a definate.. Also put the word out, we are going to be cutting granite and marble bench tops, the bloke around the corner from us has a lot of work for us and hes giving us his offcuts...free, so i was thinking cutting boards and other chick shit to keep everyones better halves off your backs..
My mum is an artist and lives in margs and she rekons the crap they peddle down there (like cutting boards) goes for hundreds. I'll hook u up for fiddy.. it may get u a blowie or get u a leave of absence pass on a future ride..
The general deal is this, anything i do for WASF or ASF as a group i will do for free and by that i mean if plaques need to be made, trophies for fools run etc, ill help out if u need it.
All the custom things i do for you wasf individuals ill do at cost of materials plus beers or money depending of course on the size of the job as previously stated.
Once we get set up and are pushing out plenty of work, the same rules will apply, im happy to help you guys out as cheaply as i can and if you know of anyone with good paying work for the table id appreciate u pointing them my way and by that i mean big jobs.
Andplease guys, keepthe ideas coming keeping in mind we can cut timber stone all metals and plastic and some glass..cant wait to try glass, im thinking clutch covers etc, dunno? what u think? Talk to me??
