It's good to see that Kawasaki eventually worked out that they needed 16 valves.
Shame they didn't do it with their proper muscle bikes, they might have been
competition for a GSX then ? Maybe ? Maybe not.... ;)

They wanted to go 4-valve but weren't allowed. Rules stopped them.

you are right not much std motor left but that's what 700 tho lift cams and 14.5 k rpm will
do to the the 330 ish hp I think these 1700cc plus ( about 1530 kwaka) motors produce.

Part of the reason I love both the Suzuki and kwaka motors
is that those race motors is exactly relivent to those motors. People like joe marshal and
Scott lynch built these puppy's based on mostly factory parts

Same mods to same mods the suzuki will always make more hp but in my exp it has little to do with 4v to 2v but some other very intresting aspects. As for the suz rule, I so dont want to get into politics. lol

I'd have to disagree Tony, Kawasaki held the bragging rights for years with their two valve motors as Fastest Top Speed, having four valves may give you better low down but up high two valve will flow as hard if not more than four.

Gpz's ruled the roost over Gixxers until the 900R which coincidentally was the first four valver or close to it!

I used to run in the "Ultimate Streetbike Series" for a little while in the UK
and followed a few other classes. Some guys got quite serious.
It wasn't unknown to see a 16 bike field for the eliminations made up entirely
of GSX1100's, ET's, Kats, EFE's etc. The two valve GS and Kwaks few not that
common in the finals.

Yeah I know what you mean Ben. I purchased the bike on 26/05/2011 so 2 years 11 months and still building. Having said that though we're getting there. I went to see my bike on Saturday and was greeted by Clyde cussing and swearing. After an hour or so though he seemed quite happy that everything was working and just needed to tidy a few things up. So I saw my Motogadget multiview working which was cool. Fingers crossed I'll be able to pick it up next Saturday and then I think the end will be in sight. Fingers crossed anyway.

Hope so mate but still a fair bit of work needing doing to it which costs money and I'm back off home to Scotland for three weeks. But my plan is to have it snarling and spitting ready for Heathcote. I might even call out to the ASF massif closer to the time for help in assembling :)

You're right Ben.The chroming around the external oil feed on the casing wasn't allowing the alu washer on the banjo bolt to sit flat and consequently it was pissing oil. All fixed now though with a fibre washer. When the engine gets dropped out again I'll make a more permanent fix and probably get the sealing surface on the casing machined flat.

I've actually had a complete turn around as far as paint is concerned. I originally wanted it to be original paint and graphics or better still Texaco Heron paintjob and NOT a custom paintjob. Whilst on holiday I saw a pic on my friends wall and thought A Ha or some such shit. Anyway I've got an estimate from Alan and am awaiting an estimate from an airbrush artist by the name of Claude Lia and if the two estimates fit within my budget then a custom paintjob it is.

No I didn't have the cases Hydroblasted just my carbs and swinger. I got my engine cases acid dipped and unfortunately sprayed my engine with PJ1 Satin Black engine paint :( I know now that this will look absolute pants next to the rest of the bodywork and paint and stuff GRRR.
These were in the days before I discovered the absolute magic and wonderfullness of Hydroblasting.
The swinger and the carbs for that matter are being left as is, as can be seen in the pics.

However my brake calipers, sprocket carrier and a few other little bits and bobs were Hydroblasted prior to being painted. I haven't got these parts back from Alan yet so cannot comment any further but obviously when I get them and continue with the build there will be pics to follow.

It's OK but I just think that it will let the side down compared to the rest of the bling on the bike, it just looks a bit,well, not that tough. It sort of looks as though it could flake off and chip quite easily. We will see.

Soooo finally got a call from Allan at Black Edge Autobody (some know Allan as ASF member No. 1 Gibbo) telling me that bodywork, wheels,calipers etc were done and ready for collection. So grabbed my brown paper bag full of dollars and tootled off to Bayswater.
Fuck this guy does some pretty cool paintwork. Anyway I shook his hand, told him he was a cunt, short changed him and fucked off back home with my bits.
Started putting it back together and am currently sitting here with a JD and a big shit eating grin on my face.
Once assembled I'm taking the bike down to Claude Lia to get the airbrushing done, order some Venhill brake lines and then get my seat recovered and then it should (hopefully) be good to go.
Got a Killer deal on some Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas which will be fitted on Monday so it will be rolling soon.

OK so I've had a few little probs with my wiring. Apparently it isn't a good idea to have wired an earth lead to a positive feed on a coil. I ask you though who the fuck would have known that shit! Also problems with brake calipers and swollen seals but nothing too major. Good news thopugh Claude has started work on the airbrushing and this is a little sneak preview.
