hi all, been really missing post whoring on asf, but due to several reasons, hadnt been able to.
reason 1 - no idea why but circa 2017 i wasnt allowed to post on here, some anti jotun conspiracy;
reason 2 - my 2 sheds were destroyed and plundered by alliens and mutants, therefore instead of finishing my projects i had to repair my cars;
reason 3 - pics from my threads were hosted on fucka bucket and sometimes one could see them, sometimes couldnt. i cant log in on to my own account in the shit bin. hopefully im gunna find a way of uploading pics directly from my lappy.
well back to the new ride.
last summer i got myself a country house and lot, about 90 km from my home. a traffic to the place is aweful, especially on weekends, so my idea was to build a super light folding motor cycle that predend to be a push bike. so that i'd take most of the way by the public transport (the subway and railroad) and last 10 km by the bike. i could probably ride by a pushie, but on the other hand, fuck pedalling with a heavy load, being tired or in the summer heat etc
so i bought the folding fat bike with 26" wheels and both suspensions hoping to motorize it with a 100cc 2 stroke chinese engine. from the beginning i decided to remove pedals but keep the gears

those 26"x4" were fucking huge, coulda given me probs with gearing, so i decided to get smaller wheels, firstly tried 24", then 20". i'd take 22" but they arent available. 24" and 20" are pretty rare too, so after a month of searching i had to buy the whole kids fat with 20" wheels

the complete bike was disassembled and the 100cc engine kit was bought and they met together. cant say i was happy, the reality is harsher than ideas, but we must fight the reality to approach ideals ha ha



the huge sprocket looked fugly and the frame was no go either so i had to admit my fuck up, there'll be no easy ride, i'll have not to modify the bike, but to build one from scratch

At the risk of sounding like a greenie, which I’m definitely not, have you considered electric propulsion for your pushie? No idea if there are kits available, but you’re smarter than the average bear and could whip something up I’m sure!

thanks nudie, more than 5 ys indeed. yup i even almost bought an electric bike a year ago, but changed my mind. they are to slow, short ranged, and not reliable battery wise. any kits are available on the web these days, but they are pricey for what i need - up to 100 km/h top speed

forgot to mention, the crank unit of the fat bike is to wide cos of wide tyre, so if i used the stock frame, i'd have to settle engine to the left side too far. another idea was to set 2 engines in row, but thats an overkill even for a russian bear. i also measured the rake of the bike, its 16 deg (!) compared to a sports bike's 23-26, i'd love to stick to 26 for better stability. so, i'd have to cut off and change the neck, the crank unit, the swinger and shock moounts, what would left of the frame? therefore i decided, like it was said, to build a new frame. ive had 40*40*2 squre tube lying around, after researching the stock frame i judged itd do a treat.

the sprocket from the kit weights about a kilo, so i bought an ally one off a ktm 50. the steel one will be used as a frying pan stand. made the main drive sprocket hub from a steel pedal rod, and the tranny sprocket hub from an ally pedal rod

btw, composing a motorized pushie's frame is more difficult than a motorcycles one. especially a folding one. you must find where to place the engine, main drive, swinger mounts, set necessary angles and after all the whole bike must be foldin in the middle exactly.

btw the stock forks looked good, no play unlike others, cept its stem. which was cut off and a new one was fabbed and pressed in after some magick chantings and dances. its made to accept 'normal' roll bearing off a pit bike, so in theory you can install pit bike forks instead

the last one has shown that i fucked up with the lower tube angle, which's dubbed by the swinger, gunna re do it no wuccas
but in general, every thing elses fine, just like on my sketch, wheel base is 1420 mm, not average push bike

and yup, a crazy idea that has been stewing in my head long time is to build a motorcycle as they were built 100 ys ago - a bicycle with sometimes pretty powerful engine like the curtiss, its all about power to weight ratio... but light and compact enough to be taken to the subway under cover (literally)

changed the frame design concerning the fuel tank, made the hinge, pressed into the swinger ball bearings and spacers, changed the lower tube angle, began to re design the swinger and rear susp, gunna copy honda unit prolink. the swingers a tad wry btw



disassembled the shock and was pleased to know its not just an imitation, but a real working thingy gas filled and two way resistant, you know what i mean

also began to fab engine mounts





changed the head bolts for studs and tall nuts, the engines gunna be hung by the head with the nuts



fucked up with the forks stem, ordered a longer one, already machined just waits for zinc coatin, so soon well gunna have a rolling chassiss!

installed the front end and checked up hmm the foldability correctness. it'll be correct if the swingers mounts length is 40mm, as planned, the wheelbases confirmed once again and equals 1420mm. the future seat height is about 750mm

bought 2 front brakes, ones gotta be converted to the foot brake. yup they are white but for dot 4 & 5 brake fluid, black ones were for some 'mineral oil'
