I hate being bipolar, its awesome!
I used to have a German made bandit copy, it looked awesome, and was around when Simpsons were really really expensive but was really noisy inside. I now wear a shoie dual sport helmet, if you take the visor off it looks really bug eyed, but I like the visor on for sunshade and it works well at shielding spray from truck wheels in the rain. I bought a helmet from lidsdirect.co.uk and it was posted here in an box the size of a bar fridge, full of polystyrene and bubble wrap. And I saved 40% on Peter Steven's shop price And being from the UK it was UK type A standard (tested to 180 Miles per hour) and ACU gold rated. Absurd that it is not OK in Aus. However, I read recently that queensland was considering following the Kiwi rule on helmet standards, meaning if it passes the Australian, or US, or UK, or German standards, then it is legal in the state of QLD. So what would happen if you drove a mile over the border into NSW? The Aus helmet standard is a farce, it is a less stringent test than the overseas tests, it adds a considerable cost which is passed on to the Australian consumer, and due to the cost of testing manufacturers only release a limited product range into Aus so it restricts our choice. Just check out the variety of all safety gear overseas and you see we get only half the range sold here.
This might sound like a silly question but why aint the Bandit helmets legal over in OZ? I am a a distributor of Bandit Helmets in the UK and the problem we have here is the size of the eye appature is to small, they do a Fighter and Alien 2 that is fully ECE compliant though, they just dont look as good as the XXR and Crystal.
That was the reason I always thought it was; the aperture. Don't know that officially though.
the cost of ADRing the bandit is why, they (bandit) was going to cover cost but when they found out how much said no thanks
This may all change soon if the Queensland and NSW states get they're shit together. Looks like european standards may be acceptable in both states if all goes well.
Fuck ADR's the Simpson is the Streetfighter helmet and the Streetfighter way I always followed is thumbing your nose at the law.
"I call it a Camberwell carrot as I invented it in Camberwell and it looks alot like a carrot"
No way man!
It's all about following the rules and staying ADR compliant so when you get pulled over for an unrelated infraction you can be all smug and say "take that coppers..."
StreetCompliers are where it's at!!!
My new lid, i like it, its comfy as. i dont get the old lack of vison thing as it has more then dirtbike googles!

If you like retro check out the new Bell Bullitt.
Strongly thinking about getting one.
What do you think of the fly?? I didn't like it at all. Looks nice sitting in the corner of my room!
I love my Fly helmet. Nice wide aperture and no noisier than my Shoei. If I'm riding towards the sun I can dip my chin and use the peak to block out the rays (as they are intended. Not as a "look at me, I'm a tough streetfighter" accessory!).
The only time I wear a different helmet is when I go bush bashing
If I had a dollar for every time I thought about you, I'd start thinking about you
For all the tech heads and gizmo guys...theres this....

Each to their own I guess! I hate mine. I find it considerably noisier that my KBC and my shark, the vision is very poor when trying to read the speedo because of the way it is moulded over the chin and the fit is poor. Not to mention the fact it weighs a ton
