That's a good spot for the reg. You don't muck around haha!
Any chance of a side shot so we can see that tail a bit better?
I think that chop looks good.

    Rear end/tail light !?

So I need to work out the rear tail light,

I want to keep the rear end as short as possible, so I mounted the tail light low to keep things short.

But now, I'm thinking the tail light is to low.

Either I fill the gap between the tail light & the top of the rear fairing with a panel of some sort or .....

    Quick photoshop job ...

Raise the tail light, which will mean chopping the subframe to make it fit or having the tail light stick out a bit.

Comments or suggestions on what you guys think about the tail light position ...!

I really couldn't be fucked cutting up the rear subframe, but I just might have to.

I reckon a custom home made tail light is in order here.
You can get red led strips on egay that would tuck up inside the tail there nicely.

    Something like that would work.

I'd be getting the correct tail light for the seat unit and making it fit. A lot easier than creating a new shroud for a new light and tring to make it all fit, unless you like a challenge of course?

What problems did you have with the plastic erno ?

Yep, I do have some of that aluminium mesh left over from another project & a glue gun, was thinking about using the mesh but then thought the original vents looked way better & they were only around $5 each.

I was originally going to use a slim line led tail light, but already had the cbr1000rr tail light, so thought I would try it.

Think erno & BOBBY are right, probably going to ditch the cbr tail light & get a new slim line tail light.

This is more of a budget build, trying to use parts that I already have, so If I already have it, I will try it first, then if it does not work out, then I will buy something else.

    That is the correct tail light Gix11, its a 07 cbr1000rr tail light & 07 cbr1000rr rear fairing, on a 07 cbr1000rr subframe.

The problem is that the cbr tail is too long, & I like the look of a short rear end, so I chopped around 17cm from the back of the cbr rear fairing & moved the rear fairing forward 5cm on the subframe, so now the rear end is 22cm shorter than stock.

    Stock,

Then I chopped straight through the Repsol sticker,

Ahh, sorry mate, now I get ya. Yea, subframe alteration would be the only way with that light then. Oh well, all more stuff for you to fiddle with and master mate.

The cbr tail light is fairly long, around 10cm, don't have a Ebay/Paypal account, but thinking I will try & find a slim line tail light, something that's maybe 4cm long, that would mean I wont need to cut the subframe.

Grabbed this pic of a cbr1000rr tail light from the internet,

Something like this could work, (below)

That's the light I have. It's near useless. Especially on a black bike.

Which light are you referring to BOBBY ? The smoked cbr1000rr or the smaller one ?

I'm thinking you are talking about the smoked cbr1000rr tail light, not sure, as I posted pic's of 2 tail lights.

The second one with the integrated number plate holder is the one I have. It'll get you out of trouble but I will be modifying it to be brighter in the future.

The bike looks good mate. You've done well.

Mount LED'S on back of sub- frame and shape Perspex to suit tail, tint and fit. Flush tidy and flash.
