Had these,
And these,
So I did this,
So basically 5kg each for stockers, without hardware.
And ended up with 6kg for the pair of Carbon cans, with hardware.

This is my work area, so I will apologize in advance if some of my pics are not the best.

I know its been done before, but I love the Buell XB headlight, so that's what I'm using.
Then I got this, yes I love carbon fiber too.
I have my twin headlight wiring set up, this allows me to run low beam & high beam together.
And we have light !

Where did you get the carbon sleeves from?
Yep, that's the sort of posts and photos we were talking about mate! Good stuff. Keep it coming.
Love the cans mate, good job! (They are about 50% too long though)
here ya go Darren...

I only have hand tools & limited space, so keep the laughter to a minimum when you see my sub-frame swap !
I got a 2004-2007 cbr1000rr sub-frame,
I made some brackets out of 3mm x 32mm x 32mm Aluminium angle, I used 3 stacked together for each side.
So the brackets are 9mm thick, the sub-frame supports me and if I stand at the back of the bike I can lift the rear wheel off the ground by pulling up on the sub-frame. I'm no engineer, so if anyone see's some thing wrong with my sub-frame brackets let me know !

Then I had to make a tray to hold the battery & electric's, it may not look like much, but it took me forever to make.
Also got a new Mosfet R/R, as the VTR's R/R's are not the best.
With the CBR's seat in the stock position on the sub-frame there is a gap of 5cm between the seat & tank, so I have moved the seat bracket forward 5cm & also the rear fairing & rear seat all need to come forward 5cm. Sounds simple enough, but a lot of time measuring, then drilling new holes & making brackets.

Nice work so far!
Any ideas on those butt ugly radiators? I have had a couple of VTRs and the stumbling block has always been the cooling system.
Looking good love the vfr's
Not 100% sure on the subframe multi plate aluminium mounting idea mate. The stresses and strains of road riding are a lot stronger than you think. I would be getting a length of steel box section or tube if it were me.
the only problem i see with the subframe is that it's butt ugly. i would be rethinking that one if i were you.
Post some more close up pictures of where the subframe meets the frame and we can all try nut out a better idea for you.
I'm not 100% sure either, I think it will do for now & I think it will be ok for a test ride round the block. Will still be thinking about it & I am all ears to hear what you & others have to say about it.
The top sub-frame mount is a direct fit to the top frame mount & uses the original bolts, so the top mount is all good.
