So went out to Gunnedah drags as always a great weekend. Made it out for 1 good pass before the clutch started to grab. The judder, chatter, hammering has stopped but the grab is still happening. Pulled it down at Stu's place on Saturday night and found the plate bone dry. Resoaked the plates changed the inner hub and put it back together and got one good pass Sunday morning ended up pouring 20-30ml of oil over the clutch after every pass and it was OK so DUNNO. back to the drawing board.
The racing, I couldn't get a quick pass all weekend best of 6.9 with most 7.1 or slower so I dialled in 7.05 and went racing and wouldn't you know it I ran a 6.6 during the 3rd round and broke out so that was the end of racing.

    Just an idea,

Could you put a fitting somewhere into the clutch cover and run an external oil line from the main oil gallery to spray oil over the clucth basket while the motors running?

Your nearly there, keep it up.

Yep have been thinking of doing something along those lines similar to what I have done on the turbo bike. The only problem is I am trying to work out is why do I need to do that. Must be something I am missing

mmm.... had been thinking that as well. When you consider the amount of Busa's being flogged on drag strips around the world, and you dont here too many issues untill you start trying to flog them while making 350+bhp.
So, going back to the start then, where does the clutch normally get lubricated from, what affects that, whats been altered from stock that might affect it (whether that be clutch, oil lines, cooler or any other oil system componants). How does the motor sit compared to stock now that its lowered? Could this and the constant acceleration forces be starving pickup or forcing the bulk of the oil into places where it dosnt get thrwon back up around the basket? Sump baffles maybe

Dont know mate, could be a number of factors involved here, just got to keep trying to nut it out, or just throw and external line on and see if that helps.

I'm sure a clever man like yourself will sort it

I hear your pain. I took the Gixxer out to Willowbank for the first time last week. Couldnt get the thing off the line cleanly. Clutch just grabs and, no slip at all. Shutters and bucks around. Not even going to tell you my times, its embarrasing. Was talking to a guy who runs a K7. He said to take the clutch out and check the steels. If they are really smooth, roughen them up just by rubbing on concrete. Haven't tried it yet. Or other alternative was to put a Clutch Cushon in.

Yella. How much different are Busa clutches to a GSXR one? Mine does the same thing and I'll be doing this mod tonight - http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140539 - As well as using this clutch plate you can drill extra holes in the back of the basket for more lubrication.

Once i've done this and tested it out i'll let you know how i went.

    Cheers, Jed

Done last night. Pretty easy and cheap fix. Took it out for a run on the street for a quick test. No more grabbing / shuddering clutch. Made a huge difference. Still have to try it on the strip, but so far seems to have fixed the problem.

Cheap too. I was going to buy a Brocks clutch cushion, nearly $200. This cost me $23.

whats the go with the Kwaka disk ? Is it just a disk with some pits to increase oil retention or are they rivets holding something on the other side ?

Haven't seen one in the flesh but from what I can work out is 2 steels riveted together with a judder spring in the middle. seem to do wonders for the 1000 but just don't fit the busa

That's exactly what it is. I rode the bike to work this morning - 60k's to work on country roads - did a few test launches on the way. Unbelievable difference.
