Bikes you wished you'd never owned...

Scotty came up with this one; Bike you wished you'd never owned. Everyone must have one, so here's the one I try and forget about (and usually do) to start it off.

59hp of four stroke twin lameness. It had it's market, but that wasn't me.

This is not the actual bike (you don't think I actually took a photo of it do you?)

Gsx250S , In the end I punched it right square in the imaculate tank just below the filler so hard you could count my knuckel indentations. She did a big end on the way home from the GP that week, we didnt get along ever.

Been lucky really considering all the bikes I've had over the last 40 years. Only one that turned out to be a real pig was a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 I had from new. Writing was on the wall from day one as it was back every week for the first 6 weeks for warranty work. By about 10,000klm it was as scary as all fuck going through a corner at any speed and having a tank slapper. In fact it could have a tank slapper on a straight road if I hit a bump. The service manager took it home one night to try and work out what the problem was. The next day he told me to get rid of it before it killed me. Kawasaki allegedly couldn't find out what the problem was so gave me a new ZX9R to stop me going to the media.

A virago 250. Glad i got my licence, but wish i'd bought a different first bike. Hard to kill (crashed it a few times as it was a first bike) but it was boring as bat shit after a week. Starter motor died and i think i push started it for a month before i could save up the cash for one from the wreckers.
    more titanium than my bike

I think the lock was there due to no licence (no insurance)

that F#ck I guessed things would get better
or I would have given up on bikes there and then.

Spent more time in tape and string than it ever did whole. Had a pathetically small footed side stand (more of a lawn spike) that would fall over if you even thought about putting it on grass. Due to the fact that the indicators were attached ONLY to the fairing, and they were the widest part of the bike, I ended up having a conveniently coloured roll of red gaff under the seat 'cause getting it plastic welded was a waste of time. In the end I traded it in for the bandit (best decision I EVER made) after throwing some cheap tyres on that made me drift...EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Yamaha XT600. I bought it when i lived in London after some drunken twat knocked me off a perfectly good, 4 week old ZX7. He was supposed to be inside and I only had third party insurance.

So i bought this heap of shite to get me by until I could fix the Kwaka. In the depths of winter in Peckham, i would be outside in a t-shirt, sweating like a mutha, kicking the piece of shit over for 20 minutes. I could have walked to work quicker. It would just cut out randomly even after it was warm and the whole starting bullshit would begin again on the side of the road.

Final indignation was on a wet December morning, sweating and kicking the shit out out of it. The stand snapped and me and the bike went over with the tank smacking me in the eye as it all hit the floor. Embarrassing as all fuck having to go to work and explain my black eye was due to a punch in the face from my bike.

Gave it away on the condition that my mate would never let me see it again

Hi, my name's Ed and I used to ride a Harley - there, I admit it. What a piece of crap, didn't corner or brake and the throttle just made the noise louder. One of the cams shat itself and was replaced under warranty even though the bike was about 8 years old at the time, indicators only worked from time to time and various bits fell of at random intervals. What the fuck was I thinking?

Yep me too, I still cop shit from certain mates about once owning a virago. I used to always borrow my mate's zxr7 and ride that instead. Didn't need P plates back then. So got away with it
