Thread: gpz 900r

    gpz 900r

Would like to do a front and rear end swap on the 900. The front end swap is fairly straight forward but I am not so sure on the rear. The zzr1100 rear swingarm only pivots at the frame but the 900r uses the motor as well. is it a case of just cutting the middle section out and adding the right bushes and bearings ? . Any help would be great.

A tape measure is your friend , nothings Impossable if you throw enough time money and skinned knuckels at it. Might be a good idea to drop into the intro area and drop a little line as to your story before the sharks start to turn up. Questions are fine but people like a little courtesy around these parts. Info's free for people happy to say hi before asking the orical for input.

You will prob find the stock swing arm will take a wider rim/tyre package if you want an easyer way out. The later 900's were 150 tyre stock so a 180 or 190 will prob squeeze in on a correct rim. If you want some bling on your arm , what about a braced stock arm ?

Say a quick hello in here mate: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/for...To-The-Madness

    Welcome aboard.

This is what I read on the subject you are chasing:

"Use a ZZR1100C wheel for the rear and a GPZ500S(D) for the front. A 180 tyre will fit using the original swingarm."

I've never done it but maybe someone here can confirm this.

What model you got?? I have a 92 a8 and the fork legs are 41mm (the one with 17" front wheel)exactly the same as a zz600 so you can with heavier springs just lide the complete front end in to the original gpz triples - this will give you a fully adjustable front end with all rebound, compression and pre load. A zzr600 rear wheel will also fit straight in ,I had my zzr6 and the gpz side by side and it looks like a direct bolt in job you will then be able to rum a 170mm rear tire. I have just bought 2 more gpz's that will make 2 and 1/2 in my garage.

There is a thread on gpzzone.co.uk about how to do this swap, apparently the c model arm os the best one to use

Thanks. I have got a 1984 900 and when I compare it to my sons zzr600 the 600 has a wider swingarm so I would have to machine on of the bushes down a bit . I like the look of the 900 that pizz did and it look like he used a zzr rear. I am just trying to get a bit of info to make sure I do it the best way. I will check out the uk site . thanks.

You have to pay to use that site you can't view anything on iit.
As far as I'm aware the gpz swing arm was the same from start to
Finish I'm getting an a4 85 mod delivered on Friday ill check it against
The a8 91mod when I get it for you.
But the zzr into the a8 is a sure bolt in I spent hrs looking at them side
    By side.

I have had a look at a thread on gpzzone about this swap and they recon that the zzr1100c is the one to use, there is a 16 page thread including the dimensions etc. I have tried to copy the pic and will post it here.
