got a dirt cheap set of bars yesterday, they even fit in with my idea of going for an all alloy front end,
no paint on the triples, lower fork legs or calipers and stripped anodising on the fork tubes.

gear lever turned up today, so i threw that on and its a tad too wide...
when i tighten up the foot peg bolt it clamps the lever solid, so ill have to take to it with a file when i get a chance.

Ok so a bit bigger progress today, I now have a Z1000 J engine!

This is what $300AUDcan buy you, not bad when the only other engines I can find are a bottom end for $999
And one for $1200 condition unknown....

So I got a set of MIKUNI carbies

And the engine with no broken fins!!!!!!!!!!

    Mmmmm power........

I also got the coils and was supposed to get the loom but the dickhead chucked it, so I said to throw in he tank( with taps and sender unit and let's call it even! Done deal....... Ha what a fucken idiot!!!!!!!

No broken fins is a big bonus
I just got a uni track 1100 about 80% (nothing above barels and in parts)
For not much less than that and we still have to weld some fins
but I really only wanted it for the zx gear box and oil pump
They really are one of the best looking motors

    nice score!

J model donk same as the US police "KZ" easy for parts and if you keep it stock will be cheap(ish) to rebuild.

could be wrong but I think the Z1000R (Eddie Lawson rep) had an all black motor, the garden variety J model had the bare alloy ends on the rocker cover and the ignition cover fins like yours.

the only 1100 model we got (before GPZ1100B1) was a shaft drive, anyway your not doing a resto are you??

$300 bucks is a bargain so quit your whining!

Well the bodywork on this bike was GPZ1100 B1 but I have also seen the same bodywork referred to as a Z1000j... So that's why I'm getting so confused....

No I'm not doing a resto, I'm sure when I open it up all will be explained...

Nice one mate, good find and a bargain no matter what size the engine is. Having said that though you'll need to make it bigger as it only has 8 valves, ahem. If you want and when you're ready I can ulrasonic clean your carbs for you.
Oh and by the way Linton you're correct , the old Z motors are one of the best looking but but THE BEST looking motor is the GSX 11.......................innit

you can go here http://www.zpower.com.au/catalog/index.php and check the engine no.

click "kawasaki motor parts" top left corner and follow your engine number to the truth

hey simon, funny how suzuki could only beat the immortal Z900 by adding those 8 EXTRA valves eh?............
