.........and i guess there is this to worry about til midnight Saturday......highway patrol will be out in numbers.....
An increased number of NSW Police officers will be patrolling the state’s roads for the next three days as part of Operation Drink Drive II.
Operation ‘Drink Drive II’ 2012 – an annual state-wide traffic enforcement targeting drink-driving and other irresponsible driving behaviour – will be conducted from 12am on Thursday 8 November 2012 to 11:59pm on Saturday 10 November 2012.
Superintendent Stuart Smith, Operations Commander of the NSW Police Force’s Traffic and Highway Patrol, said Drink Drive II was all about getting rogue drivers off the roads and improving road safety for the vast majority of law-abiding motorists.
“Over the course of the next three days, you can expect to see police out in force, doing everything we can to get dangerous drivers off the road,” Superintendent Smith said.
“We want to make NSW roadways as safe as possible and will conduct thousands of random breath tests, numerous speed enforcement operations and thorough vehicle checks over the coming days to catch those who put lives at risk through their reckless road behaviour.”
Superintendent Smith reminded motorists of the importance of acting responsibly and legally when in control of a vehicle.
“I know I must sound like a broken record but the message is simple – stick to the road rules,” Superintendent Smith said.
“They are in place for a reason – to save lives!
Each of the NSW Police Force’s 80 Local Area Commands will be supported by large numbers of officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command over the course of Operation Drink Drive II.
During last year’s (2011) Drink Drive II operation, police conducted 79,871 breath tests and laid 146 PCA (drink-driving) charges.
A total of 2099 traffic infringement notices (not speed) were issued while 705 infringement notices were issued for speeding offences.
One more fucking sleep to go.
