    Retro Tech Katana

This is a Kat I've just finished for a customer, he wanted modern running gear & a drag look. It has a K3 GSXR1000 front end, GSX1400 swingarm & wheels, Gilles rearsets, Acewell dash, & Mikuni Triples ( never seen them before), Magical racing seat unit.

For me the link pipe is too long, IMO the can would look better mounted from the top shock bolt. But you have to remember its only my$0.02 and if thats what the customer wants then thats what he gets.

looking at the pic from the rear the muffler would have hit the shock if it was forward more

I was going to say it but I wanted your opinion first , yeah Im not sold on the exhaust , the problem is it can't sit beside the shock because it will hang out too far & I sat it in front of the shock & it looked too modern for the bike .

Looks good, I think the pipe looks odd because it's polished - maybe a black ceramic coating would blend it abit better?

Maybe super short ?? ie muffler exit just behind the foot peg...??
I can see the hassles you would have mounting it near the shock Ben, maybe its time to talk the customer into a mono shock conversion...

Yeah I was thinking that too , there's a join just under the swingarm, maybe even just black to there will help.

You've done a top job again Ben.

Seat's not to my taste, but I like the old Kat's, Zed's, etc
with the original bodywork, dont know why, different engines,
swingarms, running gears works but I like the original bodywork.

    Still a great bike.

How much work was it putting the 14 arm in ?

Too much, the bandit arm is a better option.

I like it......but i reckon that link pipe should be painted as suggested by the others....just so it doesn't look so long.

They are such ugly bikes, I think thats why I like them so much.
Nice work Ben and Pete, if the customer wanted a drag look .. how about one of those low side drag pipes?

^^That's a normal 4-1 you stupid Hippy, you mean a sidewinder.

    Good work as always Benji.
The tail unit is like a train crash, it's terrible but I can't stop looking at it.
