Coolant overflow bottle, why does everyone use ugly metal drink bottles?

I see alot of people use the ugly water/camping fuel bottles as overflow bottles and it got me wondering why?

When you can do what the motard guys call "the turkey baster mod" similar too

Those pics are both of dirtbikes or motards. My ktm doesn't have an overflow bottle, it just drains on the road if it needs it.
I've read that some guys put an overflow bottle on motards because they run hot, escpecially on the road with stop start traffic, the overflow means you can run more coolant. I can't imagine those tiny overflow bottles being any use on my vfr, it needs to be able to hold more coolant.
    more titanium than my bike

I actually made my own out of stainless pipe. Then machined up the 2 ends and welded them in with a sintered cap on one end.
