So you want to learn how to Wheelie?

    G'day fellas

After talking with quite a few of you at the NFR the general consensus is that we'd all like to be able to do good wheelies, without cartwheeling our pride and joy down the road!

So I've stumbled across a place called Wheeliezone in Penshurst. Its a wheelie machine where a bike is secured to a dyno and you can get the feeling of balance point and get coached by the experts on how to do a proper Wheelie. I'm booked in for Saturday and i'll let you know how it goes!

It's $132 for a half hour session, 20mins on bike. They have 3 bikes 2 dirt, one road and its a k1-k2 GSXR1000 by the looks of it. It has cams pc3 and zorst tuned with 168hp at the rear (quoting website).

They reckon that after one session you have pretty bad arm pump etc, but if after 2 sessions you cant carry a wheelie for 300m+ you should stick to knitting!

So in case you can't tell im hanging out to give it a try!

    Cheers.

Always wanted to give one of these a go looks like fun But
If ya cant carry a 300m+ wheelie on a 168HP GSXR they are probably correct.

I would love to become a professional whistler. I'm pretty amazing at it now, but I wanna get, like, even better. Make my living out of it.

I'm really after mastering the balance point that's the main thing I want to learn. Once you can balance the rear brake against the throttle then the sky's the limit! So balance point and stand ups and staggered and tank wheelies....

Its actually pretty good advice Pete. I've got a mate that learned on shitter dirt bikes and he can wheelie just about anything you throw at him.... Hell I've seen him wheelie his road registered, highly modded yet standard wheelbase Z50 for well over half a kilometer.

This is a pretty good idea. I bought a shitbox 250 pitbike with the same intentions, but somehow managed to break me leg falling off it onto nice soft grass...lol. This wheelie school is a really good concept. As long as Rod mentioned it takes into wind and other factors such as camber and the like.

Ive seen a few pics of these things.. would be ok to get a feel for how high you need to be, but i reckon it would be heaps different to real roads.
If you cant wheelie a gixxer thou over 300m(while actually trying) well umm.. you're not trying!

Best advice has been said, but a shitter dirt bike and learn on that. Hurts way less!
Anything can wheelie if you abuse it enough! I had a vid of riding a zzr250 but i cant find it now, bugger!
