Can you please translate this for me:

Eggin tykist mær bert ein gátt, sorgin skipar lagnutáttin
Sjálvur yrkti eg niðurlag, frítt er Eystfellið frá at fara
Brátt er vísan øll og tøgn, hoyrdist tá ið kalda lagnan
Leiddi teir í Runsival, meg bert niðan á hægsta valaknúk

    Thanks.

Yeah that is it Tony. It is a bloody good song and I think the Faroese bit is from a poem called The Edge of Darkness.

Sorry. Deleted it, tried to find a better version.

Most stuff like that if you just cut and past into Google
with the word "translate" i'll find you something.

    The Edge

Nightfall in my hall, all I can do is recall as I sit alone in the
Darkness, I confess, my part was not any less than whose I was forced to impress

It was a year ago, I left my heart behind to return, with a longing did I burn, I meant to return
And now a year has gone and everything has changed for the worse and it's on me like a curse, things changed for the worse

Sentenced to the death by the Thing, four conspirators 'gainst our king
Led by Son of the Wolf they're just four blood brothers going over the edge

I see no other way than on, what will they say when I am gone
I want my memory to be mild, I want it to glow
Upon my pages blood is stained, this way some honour will remain
But I did cause the death of a child both you and I know

And when they came to bleed me dry, I only wonder why did I
On that Easter morn' for the love of my life not vie
Let them kill me just the same, I should have lied and played their game
It is a lesser sin than what I have done since that day

It won't go away, nothing I can say save lay down and pray
What came from within, what came from without,
I can't be about, myself do I doubt ever since that day

Sentenced to the death by the Thing, four conspirators 'gainst our king
Led by Son of the Wolf they're just four blood brothers going over the edge

New day, we all pay for our mistakes on our way; lead me up the hillside at
Daybreak, my mistake, don't shed a tear at my wake, just believe it's for my own sake

    No turning back now
No tears at my wake, I'll pay for my vow
Just march up the hill till we reach the end
Transmigration calls, I long to ascend
    It's for my own sake

yup i tried to translate it on line but the bloody transliteration is a mess, u cannot swap norse letters with russian ones and expect a good attitude sometimes i cant understand even german with a crooked transliteration [V] and btw faroese is a very rare language and not presented on 'google translate'

heres a link to the old icelandic which is very close to the ancient scandinavic tongue that i use to hold on the roots... well not those roots in oz meaning! [}] u can also try icelandic danish and norvegian translators, many words r same or similar in those,

    ok,
Eggin tykist maer bert ein gatt, sorgin skipar lagnutattin
Sjalvur yrkti eg nithurlag, fritt er Eystfellith fra at fara
Bratt er visan oell og togn, hoyrdist ta ith kalda lagnan
Leiddi teir i Runsival, meg bert nithan a haegsta valaknuk

    means following:

The edge seems but a threshold to me, sadness leads the song of destiny
I wrote the chorus myself, beautiful is mount Eystfellith as I leave
Soon the ballad will be over and silence fall, as was heard when cold destiny
Led them to Runceval, me only upon the highest of the Great Hills

    Ballad of the Swords

    Lyrics by Frode Glesnes
Music by Audun Wold , Gerhard Storesund & Frode Glesnes

    Across the moor
    We norsemen rode
    & skalds to us song
    That days of glory
    Soon should be
    When swords blood-red were swung
    "One eyed father
    Give us strength
    My brave kinsmen & I
    In Valhalla I
    Your mighty men will meet
If I in this battle die
    From the sky
    your ravens watching me
    Both of them I see
    Thank you Father
    For letting me know
    You watch over me"
    At the moor
    The ravens spoke to me
    While skalds did their song
    A bitter loss
    Was soon to come
    For those I were among

    Across the moor
    We norsemen rode
    & skalds to us sung
    That days of glory
    Soon should be
    When swords blood-red were swung
I say to you - I ask you to
For once be your own lord
    Come with me
    Be a part of my
    Ballad of the swords
    A sudden clash
    Where swords were drawn
Was the beginning of my end
    With a norsemans pride
    & courage I fought
I would to Hel them send
    Instead I felt
    Cold chilling steel
    Stab me from behind
    A cravens deed
    Indeed it was
    Peace he should not find
    Faded I did
    Strange beauty I met
The dream for me came true
    Brought up I were
    Bifrost I saw
    My mortal life were through
    Your mortal life
    With children & wife
    Wouldn't have no value
    If you knew as I
    About life up here
You would die to be here forever......

finnish has nothing close to faroese mate, its different languages family: finno-ugorish, while faroese is of germanic languges family... neodutch could probably help as well as some other refugees from scandinavia
