    Bike Build

Hi, this is just a thread for anyone who wants to see progress on my bike.

Basically I am waiting for a bunch of parts to come in. That and I need to get the forks and frame straightened out.

But in the meantime here's a few pics.

    Start

This is how I chipped a bit off my hip.

    Stripped

Identical cracks in the frame either side, looks like the frame bent then bounced back.

Yeah thats still a question on my mind. Still have the original belly pan in good condition so I could paint it up and fit it to the bike but I dunno yet.

haha find me another headlight for $90 to my door thats gunna look fairly sweet after it gets a coat of green :P

Personally I'd prefer the twin headlight design with the small screen but thats $500 i dont want to spend.

The headlight should look good with the lines on the tank me thinks. And in green it should blend in well.

If you want under $100 headlight, then you have many, many options that are not cheap acrebis rip-offs that produce shit lighting.

If you want dirtbike styled headlight I would go the new OE dirt bike styled headlights, The new yamaha WR headlight can be had for $80 (was about to buy this myself until i went cafe @ yamaha on Moss st) or the new kawasaki KLX (spl) headlight can be had for under $100 with both Australian road legal (e-marked) and produce usable lighting for nighttime.

Other options are 7in round headlight, as well as dual projector headlights, and some aftermarket crusier headlights can all be had for under $150.

Or you could get any headlight from any sportsbike from the wreckers or ebay and glass over that, which depending on the mounting can easily be adapted to become universal, i've seen yamaha R6 lights go on ebay with just a couple broken tabs for around the $60 mark, + $30 of glass and you've got a custom headlight that no one else has and doesn't look like just another crashed bike / stunter but like an actual fighter.

So with some lateral thinking there are many other options than cheap crap that every other joy blow that crashes his bike uses.

But thats just me, I personally and for no real reason hate with a passion (again i don't know why) acrebis headlights and their equivalent knock offs.

Each to their own M. My mrs hates it too but lucky it aint her bike. My plan is the get it on the road with big bars. After that I can slowly work on improving it with decent parts haha.

Just a quick mock up of the headlight. I'll be able to mount it a little higher and not point it so at the ground once I put the other bars on. Might just paint the top section of the headlight. Rad looks good in black me thinks.

nah havent got the forks and frame fixed. Waiting for my work cover reciepts to go in to get reimbursed. Then I need to find a lackie with a trailer and a decently comfy car to take me to springwood.

Frame, forks, axel, front wheel, discs, triples are all straightened and perfect.

I've taken the can off and drilled out some rivets. Just need a friendly neighbourhood exhaust shop to chop it down for me.

I've fixed the dings in the tank. The side one I did perfect but the crotch one needs reviewing haha which I'll do before I get it painted professionally.

Other than that I just need to put all my bits on it. Get my riser bolts sorted out... Find a front fender. Rebuild the brake master cylinder and buy some indicators and we're off and racing.

I plan to get another headlight. I've seen a couple really nice ones on here that I'd want. But just to get it on the road again the headlight will do fine. I also dont want a Z750/1000 headlight cause it looks too stock. An FZ1N headlight would be ok. I dunno will look into it later on. Lets hope I dont have to ride at night until I get a new one :P

Short exhaust all back together. Got a gixxer front guard but it seems too fat unless i take the front wheel off (pain!!!) to get it on.

Other than that, paint coming soon. Need to get my hands on a master cylinder. Work out these bolts for the risers.

Preview. Ignore the colours for now. Thinking of ditching the headlight before i get it on the road. Got a couple driving lights that I can upgrade the bulbs in.
