    GSXR1000K5

Got myself a new bike today:

Here it is. 2005 GSXR1000, 26k km, full Micron system, Ohlins steering damper, tinted double bubble screen, fender eliminator, new rearsets, braided lines, $12k with 3 months reg and new rear tyre. In damn good nick, only problem seems to be that the gear indicator is blacked out, looks like the LCD display died.

And of course, it is going to be fightered. Trying to pick a headlight unit though, any suggeestions as to what would look good with the tail (going to keep the stock tail). Also, it's got an after-market steering damper that's top mounted, would I need to get a custom top-triple made to mount it, or would an off-the-shelf unit (ABM etc etc) work?

The gear indicator might not be working if it's got a "TRE"

Thinking this one might go well with the tail:

Gloss black all over, grey and red stripe down the middle.

I'll be watching this thread closely if it turns into a build thread, I bought my K5 in May last year with full intentions of fightering it and still havent struck a blow on the cosmetics, everytime I think I have made my mind up I see something different that I like, then someone started a cafe racer thread and my mind turned to mush.

Nah, mine's outside the VIN range. Must've been the very first batch that were fucked, cause mine's 03/05 build.

The original idea had been to collect all the parts, then throw them, the bike, and money at Exben and get it done right, quicker than I can do it. But looks like I'm walking for a couple of months, so I'll be doing it myself now (except for the painting on the headlight unit.) Only problem is I won't be able to ride it to the AFR

Correct me if i am wrong, which i usually am,but how can you buy a 12000 dollar bike and chop the shit out of it to make a fighter ?. What ya gunna improve ?
To me fightering is taking something that can be improved on and doing just that, improving it. Everything you touch on that will be at best a sidestep on original and at worst a backwards step. Not haggling ,,,,,,,,,, just asking ?.

You sure you've got the right forum? But to answer your question, you show me a 180hp, 170kg naked bike. Can't, can you?
