RF900 Thread: take two. Now for sale.

So the original thread is dead and buried somwhere in the vast expanse of the place deleted files go.
Basically I bought this bike as a bent up wreck very chaeaply. Wasn't running when I bought it, but I spotted on inspection that it was just a coil wire unplugged
Anyway, I straightened out the forks and rims, slapped on a triple clamp from rexie with some moto bars, made up a tail and some panels and gave it a repaint. This is omitting all the fiddly work that goes on in between these stages of course, but I'll let the pics do the talking now...

I actually went for a proper spin on it today, these things are mental. Smoothest power delivery ever, and it stands up in second gear with just a twist of the right hand, and with bloody tall gearing too!

You've got that looking really good already Streets, I applaud your ability to think outside the square. [^]
It really makes me wonder why EVERY MAN & HIS DOG builds STREETFIGHTERS out of GSXRs when the RF has a much more up to date & asthetically pleasing (proper) wraparound twin spar frame & not to mention that the frame & tank sculpture/indent is a thing of beauty.
They can be had for fuck all $$$ (as you found out) & knowing Mr. Suzuki's love of interchangeability, I'd bet all the Gix stuff would bolt straight up.
As I mentioned in this thread before Si FUCKED IT UP, I've ridden with a bloke on an RF & the thing handled surprisingly well & could pull away from my TL at will as soon as the road opened up.
Yep, the RF 900 is one of the most overlooked & underrated bikes in the Kingdom of Streetfightersville - a damn shame really.

Here here. The shape of that tank is pretty smooth. Love how bad that first pic of the tail looks compared to how it ended up. very nice work.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. High praise indeed. Cheers.
Just sorting out an overflow bottle and waiting for my indicators to arrive before I hit the road.

Looks really good, nice work.I think I want one actually.
That tail you made is great.
That engine in my slingy frame would be fuckin ace I reckon but I believe that it's not a straight swap like the GSXR 1100s are.Pity that,a 7/9 appeals.
Does anyone know for sure if the above is true or not?
    Anyways...cool stuff Streets.

The RF 9 motor is just a GSXR 750/1100 W with a different bore and/or stroke.

Which is where the fitting troubles start I believe.

Well, its now roadworthy, so on went the akra can, and off went the sl speedo, replaced with a pushbike one, and the rf tacho in its place.
The BT58 on the back has to go... scary as hell, pilot power is goin back on.
Almost forgot, whaddya reckon of my $8 rays outdoors overflow bottle?
Just needs a NOS sticker, some kid at the RW inspection joint was convinced it was on the giggle gas...

This thing brings out the lout in me so badly, after a couple of rides, i'm coming out of every turn sliding or mono-ing or something. I think its the power delivery/riding position, it makes you feel you can do anything and stay upright.
