Nice looking bike, what mods have you done mate, or did it come with the mods done, hopefully there will be a few of us guying for a ride soon, so if you are keen you are welcome to come, the more the better. There is also a ride which starts out west every Tuesday and Wednesday night if you are keen.

    sickboy,

na no valve in that exhaust, we were able to disconnect the cables and it worked fine without,,, have taken out the baffle though which was a prick of a job..

    Bear,

yeah they look prety good, nice and chunky, they are the stock guard covers..

Hey you guys do know that the Exup valve delivers bottom end torque?
It helps create a pressure wave that aids exhaust scavenging from the cylinders (more commonly and falsely known as back pressure).

Removing it may be more loss than gain. The cat converter is the real restriction.

Nice bike Ross..so much nicer than an R1

Bear..Yes Exhaust valves are proven technology etc etc.. and please no offense but could I suggest that you read "Four Stroke Performance Tuning" before talking about pressure waves....a little more on the fence than a Yamaha web site.

Wasn't trying to be Yamaha bias or sucked in by factory hype, if that's what you think. Which is why I included that other website.
Make your own mind up. Just a suggestion, which is why I said "may be more loss than gain".

I thought hard about removing mine but thought twice after what I researched. I want to know if you can feel the difference, I mean, why would they make them otherwise? And for so many years?
Please - educate me. I'm a qualified mechanic so I should understand.

Depends what you're after performance-wise too, of course. My understanding would be to remove it for the race-track (high revs) but for torque on the streets, might be best to leave it active.

And then again, FZ's are "detuned R1's" for the street.

Here's some of the info that made me think twice about disconnecting the exup valve - http://e30m3performance.com/tech_art...ipe/x-pipe.htm

And yes, I took offence to your R1 comment.
