As they say, life's pretty straight without twisties.
I just spent a weekend around Margaret River and came back via Augusta, Nannup and Birdgetown. Pretty much any time I wasn't in a winery tasting wine, I was on the road wishing I was on my fighter experiencing all kinds of knee down shennanigans, which in reality, means me riding like a squid and wobbling round corners, but going very fast in between.
So, I'm thinking that for all those who can't make AFR (and those that can), what about a weekend run instead ?
We would stay somewhere cheap like the hotel in Pemberton.
Rough idea for the run....(open to idea's)
Leave early Saturday morning.
Cruise down to Bridgetown obeying (mostly) the speed limit.
Blast from Bridgetown to Nannup, then to pemberton.
Check into hotel.
Maybe go for a post lunch ride somewhere like Northcliff for a beer and back (which is a bitchin road).
Sunday, head across to Augusta for brekkie, up the Caves Road past Margaret River, through Wildwood Road to the main highway, then cruise back to Perth stopping for lunch somewhere suitable.
Interested ?
Unfortunately that weekend is going to have to be the one as a few of us going to AFR have to pack up our bikes and ship them.
Before then, I'm away oversea's.
