My paint is done and it AMAZING

No pictures yet sorry, I wasnt expecting it to be finished today so I didnt pring the camera with me. But its done and its BRILLIANT!

Its the same colour as the new ford purple you see getting around on the latest for utes... except its deeper and has a variety of subtle couloured tiny sparkles in it that you cant even see until its in full sun then it just seems to come alive.

The guy that did it for me owns a few bikes including a showroom condition Z900 kwaka, a GT380 water bottle and a nice KAT11 (83 I think). So he understood what i was trying to do even though his busines is painting cars.

Cost me a fair bit more than I was hoping, mainly because he did lots of work repairing mounts on the tail section and plugging off all the pillion gear holes to accomodate the single seat unit... but damn hes a craftsman! Pics to come on monday.

Ok here we go. Taken about 1 hour ago. The pictures seriously dont do it justice. You have to see the way this paint glows in the sun to appreciate the workmanship. Rod from Mildura Paint and Panel needs a bloody medal for the work he did. Not only with the paint but repairing some of the scrapes and patching up the holes from the pillion gear and reparing a chunk missing from the front guard. Hes a craftsman, period!

    Before Bleh!

The Parts including the single seat unit minus seat pad

Close up of the tail showing the sparklyness (is that a word [8)])

I put the tank on against the yellow frame and it looks even better than Id hoped. So a matter of weeks now and we should be on the road WOOT! [8D]

Is that how the tank normally looks on those Bandits? I can't remember it looking like that and I'm not in the garage to compare one. It looks like it's been precision "stoved in" for use with tank based stunts? As for the paint, it sure looks a shit load better than that Donut King job mate. Nice work.

No, I'm not going nuts am I. Standard tank looks like this (well, apart from the carbon fibre finish) or am I about to be edumacated in Bandit history?:

I think thats a custom dent for when they do stunts on the tank, ive even seen guys down Harrys diner with the same sort of dent, stunt crash bars and skid bars above the tail light.

    Yup custom dented stunt tank.

it would have been possible to get it blown out... but with the standard shaping of the sides of the tank... it actually looks like its meant to be that way for the uninitiated and it gives the bike yet another 1 off looking addition. Like the single seat and a few other things I have done, I want people to look at it and think "what the hell is that"

dent is for stunt work makes doing highchair wheeles more comfortable, ie you dont freek out about sliding of the back of the tank, you gotta do it to understand it.
