    Aircooled GSX Bigbore Question

Any Aircooled gurus here? 1074cc standard block, how far can it be bored safely? again with new sleeves? what about big block kits? Do the EFE barrels fit the standard 1074 crankcases? i know you can fit the oilcooled heads to the GSX topend with a few mods. ill be looking for a few hp mods in the future , so im just seeing who knows what.

EFE barrels fit for an 1135 cc upgrade, the maximum is about 1170-1190 cc's on the standard block, either 1074/1135, after that you're into re-sleeving, I believe, up to ~1275 cc MAX.

I was on the BigCC site the other night, and they list the upgrade options that they do, plus the expected horse power outputs.

Been thinking about the 140-150 bhp ZZR1100 option (stage 2) for the 9. Not too expensive, and enough power to blow the doors off most things.

So the standard 1074cc barrels can be taken out to 1170cc? sounds good. i like the 1275cc with resleeving tho.

That gives a very very toey motor, with the right cams. Huuuuge gruunt.

But make sure you're box is beefed up in the right places.

A well done 1170cc job produces a blindingly quick motor, with greater durability, rideability, reliability, and less costs, building and maintaining.

Also the 1135cc standard cams were the stage1 cams for the 1074cc series, even when punched out to 1170cc

nothing you can do to that will make it go any better. you should have just bought a kwaka shayneooooooooooooooooo. then you will have a bike you could keep instead of upgrading every week.

ya could always go out to 1370 a new barrell and use a '02 gixxer fuel injection and engine management system with a powercommander 3r and maybe some busa throttle bodies to get the top end.....

that's what we're doin with Clives '90 GSXR motor anyway ......

(don't quote me on the cc's..not sure on the GSX stuff... I've been playin with busa stuff lately and I've got too many numbers in my head..... CLive will probably chime in anyway)

'90 gixxer going out to 1371 (very close stevo) according to the kit manufacturers the rest is correct, i will change the gixxer throttle bodies for a set of busa throttles. Stevo will be doing the work on it and port the head as soon as he gets his flow bench going. we still got to decide on what cams we going to use yet but we hoping to get 200HP at the rear wheel.

I am very keen to know more about putting injection on a GSXR1100 motor. i have a 1100w that i was thinking of converting if it can be done.

definatly keen - i have been watching a few 04-05 throttle bodies on US ebay, they seem to go pretty cheap.

unfortunatly there isn't the amount of good gear available for the water cooled models - probably just standard bore
