does anyone out there know where i can get hold of one of those simpson helmets in oz,i know i can order one from the uk but if there is sumwhere in oz it would make it alot more convenient...thanx

I tried to get one about 3 years ago. The explanation of got from Cassons(one of the larger wholesale importers)was the cost of getting them Australian Complianced didn't justify the price they would have to pay to get them in. I had a mate who was coming back from Ireland bring me back one with a tinted visor(they are illegal in the UK apparently) but the twat got the size wrong and the one I got was a size Small. I sold it to a pretty young thing on a GPX600 who wanted to paint it bright pink otherwise I'd still have it.... Hunt arround the importers and see if someone will bring one in for you.

Alli got a Craft helmet instead. They look pretty much the same and from experience are just as noisy and eye weepy (wind rushes through it) as the Simpson range. personally not a fan of the simpson lids, ive always love the KBC vr1 combat. Im going to buy a matt black KBC vr7 with silver iridium screen and get some airbrushing done

My old shoei helmet has been down the road (thanks to letting someone borrow it), is 7 years old and smells like some fat bastard's underpants, ......so I might have to make a choice soon.

Yea, Spart - your pounds are worth about 3 times as much as our dollars, so if you multiply those prices you mentioned by 3 you will see they're not far wrong. You English guys can buy stuff out here and in the states at throw away prices - whereas we're knackered when it comes to buying from England!

Yeh thats the kbc combat, i love it but they dont think they will be bringing them into australia, and correct me if im wrong but without the silver sticker on the back they are illegal? i already tried sourcing one

Slain: re, illeagal helmets. Hell mate most of us run illegal gear on our bikes, why should the helmets be any different...lol.
If you do get a ROOF or a Simpson from overseas and it really worries you...take the silver sticker off one of your old helmets and put it on the new one. A hair dryer and boiling hot water will solve that problem. I think you will find most cops really can't be bothered to check out your lid...unless you're wearing one of those fake,plastic, open face Harley helmets. The big joke here of course is that the ROOF and most of the other European helmets exceed the set standards for Aussie helmets anyway.
