as it sez after a wheel 4 and 1/2 inch wide at the most prefer a 3 spoke kwaka but looking at anything that will fit atm.
5 inch wheel found that will fit with work If someone finds a 4 1/2 at a resonable cost let me know as I'm still interested in trying one out. And now a 4 1/2 found !
Update measured everything just right need a 4 1/2 inch 4 is to small 5 is to wide . Fussy bugger I know.

Rear mate , I have found a 5 inch that I can make fit "just" with alot of fucking around Is the right price though ($20) and dust comes 1/2 an inch thick free. But I'm more keen on a 4 1/2 inch as it will pull 180 wide tyre I want to run in a little, to help out with turn in. Going from a recomended 120 up to 180 on a wide rim is really going to mess with the handeling to much I think. Thinking pulling the 180 55 17 in about 15mm (measured) on a 4 1/2 inch rim looks the most likley to make me happy.
Got a 160 60 17 on a 3 1/2 inch atm (tyre is puled in about 10mm more than normal) its nice can scrape my knee on my fave corners sign posted 30 doing 130 (nice quiet open good camber road with plenty of view of oncoming trafic) Would have to scrape the raised foot pegs to get rid of the last 15mm of chicken strips though with the tyre squished in this much. (working on bigger balls to try this)

I've got a 160 on my DR on a 4.25 and reckon a 150 would be just a little better.....
PC guys have just about consumed all the 4.5x17 rims, hence they are as rare as hen's teeth.....about 3 yr ago the average price for a 4.5x17 was pushing $400 odd........bloody theiving bastards they are lol
Blade depends on tyre make to , some have more side wall angle for a narrower rim etc the tyre I'm keen to run is recomended to go on a 5 to 6 inch on the tyre fitment chart 4.5 is the bare minimum allowable for this 180/55/17 the resting gap (recomended rim width is 5.5 inch) Theory goes Runing a 180 tyre of this shape on a 4.5 inch rim gives a width and contact patch similar (slightly wider) to a 160/60/17 wide tyre mounted on is correct width rim but with the bonus of better turn in charactoristics more like the old 130 wide tyre the bike ran orginally. So more grip better extream lean angle grip and a wide choice of tyres (as most tyre makers are now putting less and less into the 170 and sizes narrower) I'm looking at dual compound tyres for wear and corner grip.
Lots of K's every day and fun twistys stuff I want to enjoy. 2/3's of my travel a day is upright on freeway mostly on the way to work, on the way home I want to take the slow way through the twistys. I can pick up a 180 in the tyre I want for about $240 it will prob get 3000 k's more at least than the 140's ($170) I'm running now (there great in the twistys but get eaten on the highway) so the extra money will work out in extra K's but with more grip over all.
Yes I know the (4.5's) are hard to find 2 weeks of ebay and nothing between 5's and 4's Might have to settle for a 5.

How wides the rear mate? Only info I can find on them said 17 inch front 120 tyre and 18 inch 140 tyre on rear.
Early slingshot 750 used a 4.5 X 17 rear wheel, the ZXR400 also uses a 4.5 X17, the Blandit600 rear wheel will also work, the ZZR600D/E is also a 4.5 X17. I would caustion against sueezing a 180 onto a 4.5, it will pull the tyre in and make the profile a lot taller, the bead will not be in the ideal position on the rim, If you have an accident and the tyres you have fitted re too large for the rim size then some insurance compnies will do their level best to avoid paying out. Although the contact patch when banked over will be a little larger, the sharper profile will cause the bike to drop very quickly into the corners, you won't get much mileage from it as the centre will be worn much faster then the rest. Ideally a 160 is the fitment for a 4.5 a 170 would be the widest I would fit. If you want a sharper profile then look around for a 160 race tyre rather than a touring tyre which will have a sharper overall profile.
Thanks dyno, but if you read up just a bit further the tyre maker stipulates it can be used on a 4 1/2 inch at the minimum and Insurance company is well out the window with many other mods already done the the bike. No race tyre I'm going to find around here will give me anywhere near the wear charactoristics of the sport/touring tyres I'm keen to use and be leagal on the road as well. This is something I have been researching for 4 months talking with many people racers, respected road riders, and tyre manufactures. This looks like the best option for me. But I have just come into possesion of a 5 inch rim that will fit with some machining (spacing for disk/wheel centering) so the profile/squish of the tyre will now be less anyhow.
