    Unlocking mobile phones

Got a new secondhand phone but it's locked to Vodafone, I know there are plenny of places that do the unlocking but the cheapest is $45 & I'm a world champion tightarse.
Shirley someone in STREETFIGHTERland knows a special trick I can do - like holding 7 buttons down simultaneously while standing on 1 leg facing Mecca & sticking my tongue out to make it unlock.
When I start it up, it wants an unlocking code but I dunno how many digits it needs, I've tried all the usual default numbers like 0000, 1234, etc but no joy.

    HELP !!

what phone will help for a start mate lol And a quick chat with who you got it off should sort out the number issue but if it doesn't depending on make and model a hard reset usally sets most phones back to maufacturs defaults (but deletes and info on the phone ie photos phone numbers etc), IE 0000 1234 or no lock etc look up model on www and type in hard reset will come up with how to do it for your model phone usally.

Thanx Adam, I googled 'Hard Reset Nokia 6300' & did as instructed & the phone did reset but when I turn it on it still comes up with 'phone restricted' & asks for a code.
Did a bit of reading & tried a few different codes, etc but still not happening.
Ivan, I know you can buy a new phone cheaply but I want to use this phone specifically so I'll persevere with it until it shits me too much & I throw it against a brick wall... then I'll go to JB & get a pink one.

Is it still under contract with Vodafone?
If not, just ring them with the IMEI (press * # 0 6 # and it will show it) number of the handset and they will give you the code.

I actually aquired this phone through legal means Anthony (first time for everything )
Adam - I tried that last link earlier today, 1 of the codes is correct because most of them said 'çode error' but 1 of them said 'cannot undo restriction'
Dan - I went to a Vodafone shop an hour ago & they told me it's $25 & there's no guarantee it'll work & if it doesn't, you don't get a refund. I even told them I'd sign up with them if they did it for nothing but no dice.
    LL - See above.
Thanx guys, looks like I won't be able to use this phone after all.
Time to get the blocksplitter out.

A couple of tech forums I got onto via Google said the 6300 cannot be unlocked & that seems to be true because none of the unlocking sites have the 6300 on their lists so I'm not keen to pay Vodafone $25 only to be told it can't be done - I don't want to be charged with assault over $25.

Plenty of friends & family have old phones I can have, a couple of them are even new in the box but I really wanted to use the 6300 I've got, if I can't get it sorted I'll admit defeat & get a newfangled touchscreen job.

Whats the point...you'll only leave it in the car/bedside/garage....
And you'll have to learn how to use 'em too...
