As you want to go quicker just add another motor.

Please pardon my ignorance, but since two strokes lack torque would that not mean they are all but useless in a drag-type environment?
i dunno dan thats why i wanna try one ...but i do know H2s were killing evrything in the seventies.their power to wieght ratio was way better than any of the contemporary four strokes .
they produce twice as many power strokes as a 4 stroke .
look at the 350ypvs in1983 [50bhp] and compare figures to a 350 performance 4stroke of similar capacity of the same era or an RG500 against... say an early GPZ600 [this would be about the time 4strokes were catching up ] if my memory serves me well the RG had nearly the same 0-60mph time as a GSXR750slabbie and an equivilant standing quarter time.
tell me those arent TS500lumps ...lolQuote:

That is a bit of a myth, most two strokes of equal capacity will have more torque at lower rpm than four strokes. I think it is because people are used to comparing them on a performance basis, and for equal performance a four stroke is usually twice the capacity.Quote:

That's why there's a guy up north (who unfortunatley doesn't bring his bike out very often)with a CR500 that just tears up the strip.
Last i heard it had run in the 9 second zone i think.
...i thot so ...thats why i didnt buy a cb250in 1977 and opted for an RD....anyway ARE those enignes ..T500 titan engines cos the look very similar
they sure are T500s I think there was not a great deal of difference between the T500 Titan and the TR500 road racer basic motor ... Same goes for the GT750 and the TR750s I think.
HOw about this jim

I am only going off previous experience. I had an RZ500 that was an absolute pig to get off the line without copious amounts of clutch drag...Quote:

Also, if that is the case Tony, why are two strokes not used more?
i guess when u tune em theyre fragile ....
The RD/RZ 500 had a very high first gear ratio, that's why it was hard to get off the line, but if you compared it to anything of the same capacity in that era, it would be gone (apart from the RG500).Quote:

They don't use two strokes anymore because they cannot meet the emission regulations, although some of the high pressure direct injection marine outboards do.
Yamaha is the only manufacturer to make equivalent two and four strokes now

My only query there is would those figures be taken at the crank or the rear wheel?
They where from the motorcycle usa mx shootout, they test all the bikes on the dyno on the same day.Quote:

Jockney, I THINK but dont quote me, that to run Nostalgia your bike has to either be an American Twin or Pre 1980 Jap. That was the case a couple of years ago when I looked into it anyway. My old man races his ute at nostalgia meets so I'll ask him and let ya know.
Jockney, you can email this lady for info about Nostalgias.
chris.sims9@bigpond.com
I know a year or 2 ago Smurf was interested in running in the Nostalgias but they wernt running bikes, im pretty sure its still the same. Its a real shame if they dont let the older bikes in.
They ran bikes at the last one but apparently it was invitation only.[}:)]
I must have upset someone with the email i sent them ( hard to believe i know) but i never got an invite.:(
Different people running it now too so fucked if i know what's going on now & i don't have the old girl any more so no matter to me anyway.
thanks for all the info guys im definately interested ..in running some sort of 2 stroke ..whether it be a hybrid or a n old stoker ..just for fun ..
Mick Hansen up here in Mackay has a CR500 that i've seen run 10.0 a few times, it may have gone into the 9's. Ronnie Stayte has an old race bike that he was selling last time i saw him at the track, if your interested in buying something that needs rebuilding, i'll grab some photos for ya
hey i reckon thats scotty macs bosse's cr500 your talking about mate i am pretty sure he still live's in mackay
