Speedy refurb

So,hmm. There's many and no reason/s for this post.Maybe it's just to get my post count up or maybe it's cause I have no mates and this gives people the opportunity to "talk" to me :rolleyes: or maybe i'm just fuckin bored at work.

Anyway once upon a time I was in a loving relationship with my new babe, Speedy, as I affectionately call her.

She was the love of my life and we spent many hours together and traversed the highways and byways of Scotland and England together. Sometimes on two wheels sometimes on one, but always together :)

A bit of Carbon fibre here and a bit of Carbon fibre there.

We had such a wonderful relationship that I brought her over to Oz with me to treat her to some sunshine, dry roads, new scenery and sticky tyres. we were happy.

Alas over time I gre bored with her and she became my bitch, fetching and carrying me to work. Through rain and fog, never complaining and never missing a beat. Even when I was knocked off her on the Eastern freeway one morning she still carried me home with broken footpegs and scratched casings :(

Speedy still never faltered. Until one fateful day she cried enough you fucker and left me stranded on the side of the eastlink with a burnt out stator and stretched cam chain. :mad::mad:

I realised then that my beloved Speedy was feeling neglected and needed some TLC so TLC it is.

Fortunately and coincidentally Rob from here put me in touch with an identical stat write off 2002 Speed triple here in Melbourne

So Speedy 2 accquired and time for the facelift for Speedy 1.

Hey Simon is the harness to instruments on the 02 a patch lead into the main harness or an all in one? Reason for asking is I'm looking to convert mine from analogue to digital instruments and have to mod the plugs on my harness to suit the 02 instruments - if it's a patch lead that would make life so much easier

I might have a set of attack rear sets to suit this somewhere..

Just out of curiosity Simon have you still got the ss rear ? whats the measurement across the pivot ?

I don't care how much rejuvenation you do, you're still not going to be sexy to me :p. The triple might be though.

Hey Dan, measurement of the swing arm at pivot point is 283mm. Watto the 02 instruments plug into the main loom with block connectors. Is patch connector Aussie for block connector? I'll take a photo of the instruments plugging into the main loom when I get the instruments back from my mate. Are those attack rear sets for sale by the way?

I know, I know but I'm trying to get some money together for a set of carrozzeria's. I'm kinda going backwards with my bike currently.... I have to build a subframe now just to fit the R6 bits I have for it.......

I have a straight 2002 Speed Triple subframe looking for a home ;)

cheers mate - you pretty much got it in one - I wasnt sure if the instrument harness was built into the mainloom or a seperate harness attached by block connectors to the main one

re rearsets - they will be soon mate - pm us your email addy mate and I'll send some pics if ya like - I just took them off mine as had a set of gilles finally got round to putting on in their place

Good to see the early stages of the rejuvenation of Speedy. Please post those lovely pics of that powder-coated frame etc. Although you are probably busy tinkering it all back together even as I write. Good luck and may Speedy ride again.

So after a bit of a discussion with the old tart I was left with a bit of an ultimatum. She wanted a makeover or she would never let me ride her again. So biting the bullet (and remembering what a good ride she is) I relented and agreed to give her a bit of a make over. So I sent her away and told her not to darken my doorstep again until she looked good enough to be seen out in public with.
She came back home the other day and to be honest looking quite sexy

The old tart is up and running again ;) She's as good a ride as she used to be even better I reckon. Better throttle response, better brakes and just generally feels tighter and smoother. The old tart has really delivered after getting a makeover and a bit of pimping so I hope she's fuckin grateful and doesn't spit her dummy out when I start focusing on the GSX again.nHere she is basking after a bit of a thrash
