Tis true... mine were fully enclosed but think that the load rating would be about the same. They were fine on mine but maybe suggest putting another nut on each just to sure up the thread.

Pete you need to use a compression strut not a turnbuckle. Turnbuckles are designed to work in tension. Like this.

^^^ what he said.
still, if you look them up im sure they are capable of a few peoples weigh on them

The tail looks fuckin' awesome but the bunnings struts are ghey as.
If I was using that tail I would find a fence mob that does wrought iron gates and have them make up a couple of lengths of twisted bar to replace them and have them chromed, but if your going for that ghey look you've nailed it.
thanks Dan,im going to replace them with the one u guys have suggested,,yes tod thats texs busa,he dropped it in his shed and scratched up the right side pretty bad i managed to buff 90% of them out ,Tex suggested running a hugger to keep th cops off my back
hey mate looking good so far .
but um will ur gut fit in there ??
ive ridden it i fit ,just ,lol
Hey Pete, its looking great mate. Im not keen on them struts either, and glad your replacing them. When I 1st seen it I thought they were temp just to give you an idea of where to locate the bolting point. But I really liking that tail mate.
cheers luke just got to mount the headlights next then a quick orange paint job ,,for a temp ,then a full repaint just b4 NFR
ive bought aluminium strap to replace the ghey stainless things
ive panel boned a few things together now putting the wiring up.Tex tells me that the cops will defeat the bike bc the rear seat doesnt go to the centre of the rear axle ,so im contemplating a hugger

around here they measure an angle 45-degree's up and out
from the rear spindle. Cop's were stopping dozens a while
back between Ferny Grove and Samford to ticket everyone
that had a "tail-tidy/fender illiminator/short rear guard"
I had the same check between Mt G and Mt Nebo too.
just a quick hit of trumpy orange ,till i get enough time to repaint the whole bike

also making new billet supports for the subframe
Looking good.
I reckon huggers look awesome personally, they add some beefiness to the back end.
I'm starting to think with your gixxer bright orange, and luke's being blue, i'll have to go fluro green or something ;)
i know the piccis are fuzzy its night time cheers thanks its only to get it back on the road it is getting a new colour for NFR cheers ,,hey SEN DO IT U NO U WANT TO LOL,

Fuzzy is not the fucking word but what I can see look good Pete
Pete well done mate looks good[8D]
just paint the whole bike in that pete would look shit hot
They look shit pete, sorry but they do.... If your going to keep them wide you need to drill bigger holes in them to get the ratio of hole to wall thickness right.
Or cut it down to 20mm wide and leave the small holes.
I have to agree with Ivan On this one either drill bigger holes or narrow them down a bit ...but your on the right track fella
I three.
yup will do

Good attitude mate, I think we convince ourselves that near enough is good enough at times....
It is one of the things I love about this site, It is good to get frank honest advice.
the thing i relise is theres always someone out there with more experience of better ideas ,so i listen
That looks great Pete once you change those plates it will look fantastic
