They put a new set on and it handles great!
And red 130 is just the start of top gear......

Might have to pop in to see you in a couple of weeks mate. Just in Brissy now but on my way to Roma, then back to Melb on Fri. I should be back for a couple of weeks 2nd week of April
Fuck this is a cool build man! I really gotta pull my finger out on my ol GSX...
Btw boys and girls I'm almost finished the new jig for Scotty's crank rebuilds
If you know any 1 with old school kwaka or even if we are sick that day
suzi roller cranks and you don't want to spend 2.5k to 3.5 k for a felecon crank in states.
Trust me when I say more than a bit of effort and a life time of exp has gone into makeing these things
a lot truer and better than anything else I have come across :-))
I rode the new KTM990 smt at work yesterday (in fact I have ridden 87 different bikes in the last week)........WHAT A FUKIN WEAPON!!!!!!!!! I want one.
But until I win lotto I'll have to stick with my 640, which with its new 40 tooth rear is a lot more lively down low,
I could probably go up to a 42 and drop the front to 16 and really have some fun, but I'm doing 45km a day on it so I need to be particle, and I wanna stay on it too.
I also spent a few hours cable tying, greasing, tightening, cleaning all that stuff you wanna do to a new bike, I also swapped out the old 60/55 headlight bulb for a 100/90 so I can see and I turned the headlight up the rite way (after it just passed a RWC)
I'm looking at getting a MX rear guard of another bike and chopping the subframe down to spruce up the look a bit too.

RIGHT!!!! Ripped into my engine today,
I'm pretty happy with what I have found, the head is in great condition, I reckon a valve grind and clean and it's done.

The barrels need a bit of work, I can still see the hone marks but however long sitting idle has produced some surface rust,
I may get away with just a hone but I need to look at them a bit more:
But no scores or burn marks! Yay!!!!

Overall berry fucken happy with my $300 engine!
If anyone has any info on the markings and numbers on the slugs and rods please let me know.
Is that a j motor
It's an 1100 b1 it has the direct ports into the head from the old injection.
cool crank looks clean but you wont know till you pull it out
or you just doing a top end rebuild
Im doing a Full build, I have the cases that Had aqua blasted to swap it all into.
Rite I have found out the slugs are a WIESCO 1105 cc kit for a Z1000J so maybe standard for a GPZ11??
Pulled the bottem end down this arvo and in super happy with what I have found.
-clutch looks mint
-crank looks mint
-gears look mint
In fact it looks like a brand new bottom end!

And this is how my shed looks at the moment, I'm going to sort out some form of work bench tomorrow.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps36d0b753.jpg
Crank looks mint but still needs to be inspected
Yeah I have only had a quick look over it, there is a very very small bit of side play on the big ends but i think thats acceptable,
no up or down movement
The mains roll smooth and quietly.
What else should I be looking for mate?
Very unlikely that bearings are no good
Look for water damage atl end
Maybe check for true
Prob a few other things I can't think of ATM I'm still learning some of this lol
"nobody beats super a mart"
Even for garage work bench's..... Got a new dining table with one chair for $89!
I couldn't even buy the material to build myself a bench for that.

So I cleaned all the gaffa tape off my bearing surfaces and the next step is to clean all the glass beads out of the oil galleries, I don't wan any of those little bastards floating around!
Awesome!!!! after months of surfing ebay world wide the cheapst
loom i could find would have been $100 delivered
i now have 4 looms to chop up and play with delivered for $50!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps3d188d1c.jpg
diddnt get what aqua blasted?
I missed out on a set of Makuni flat slides on egay the other day they went for $280!
I'm sure someone here scored them....... But after thinking about it, I want to eventually
Use this bike as my daily ride so the The Mikuni BS34's I already have are probably better suited
To give me the smooth response I'll want.
So I pulled them down today, overall in pretty good nick! 2 split diaphrams and that's it.
A box of bits;

Soaked Emma for a while:

After a quick scrubb to get rid of the "all black" spray job some dickhead gave them:
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps45900f96.jpg
They still need a good clean, Im deciding weather or not I'll buy a little ultrasonic cleaner.....
Moving along. Washed out my engine cases and Im pretty sure I got all the glass beads out I ran the hose through the oil galleries for about 5 mins.
The shifters in the new clean case:

Hey mate looking good.Just as a test though run a bolt through any threaded holes in your crankcases and see if you can feel any sand/grit when you turn the bolt with your fingers
yeah im gonna get a tap set and run them all through just to be safe.
Nothing huge to update, just trial fitting my spare engine cases sould be able to use the standard Z1000 mounts....
Just gotta fucking find some that won't cost me a arm and a leg.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...psc8e5cdf1.jpg
Just make em
I can plasma cut some for you if you get me hike spacing and whatnot.
Cardboard template , then MDF board to final trial works for me. Then you can just copy the MDF in steel
That bike is going to be a corker mate!
A bit of grease on the tap will help pull any glass bead out of the threads. Kind of ironic but I'll recommend lanolin grease.... lol
i have been dwelling on weather or not to make them, the only thing holding me back is i really likr the look of the
rear mounts in this pic
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...psee689367.jpg
i know i could use flat plates and spacers and that would be a lot cheaper.
i can get the kit in the pic out of the US for a hundy which i feel is pretty
steep but they just look so much better.
am i being too picky?
At a 100 and u have no acess to machinery to build them
if they work it's worth it just for not having the hassle IMO.
Hey mate you need a fuckin slap for just even considering that. Why go to the effort of building such an awesome oldskool muscle bike and scrimp on these sort of details.Even if the spacers work properly and can't be seen YOU will know that they're there.
Get that money sent over to the US of A and in years to come you'll still have nice engine mounts rather than shitty spacers. Grrr ;)
^This^
I'm with Stiffy and Turbo on this one. Engineered mounts are way better than cheap ass plates and spacers.
well looks like i will be using the cast mounts as
im picking up a parts bike tomorow i bought it for the
mounts and ill scrap the rest and sell it off.
