I don't think it works that way Pete, I am pretty sure the the AFR is a ride organised by Si, including dates.
If he is too busy usually an ASF Mod will take charge of it. Large organised last year's and Jacktar organised the one before that.
I would hate to see you get flamed for trying to take charge on here, but maybe you should message Si first?
I don't think he's tryin to take charge, I think he's tryin to get it locked in far out so people can book holidays. We are tryin to get a wa afr planned at the same time but not a lot of people committing to it, sucks for people like me. 3 months out and I can't get hols but hopefully the dates end up on my days off(30th 31st wa people:) )
Don't kill pete's keenness.
Ahem,
Actually I organised the last two.
Having said that, I can't really say I organised anything much. I rang a hotel, made a booking and posted up some dates/times. Once everyone turned up, I was free to get pissed. Notwithstanding the amount of free time I have, It'd do my head in to organise something like Si did with the big AFR's we had at Casino.
Now.
We don't need to include April 1st. AFR has always been on the weekend closest to that date and fri-sat-sun just seems to work out nicely for most. Lets stick with those days for now.
I personally don't think we should go to the snowys. All we'd do is copy the NFR which is an established and great ride/weekend away, as anyone who attended would know.
So where to? Maybe somewhere inland this time...Bathurst is good and central, but not much of a hike for the New South Welshmen. Dubbo is a bit further out and we had a good time there back in 2007.
What about Port Macquarie or Walcha (preferably Port Mac) on the friday with a lap of the Oxley on the Saturday and an easy run home Sunday?
Keep posting up your ideas gents, and maybe pencil in that weekend away with your bosses/finance ministers.
Walcha, you say Rich. nice and twisted up that way!
NFR at Cooma is easier for the Vicwegians to attend. AFR at Walcha/Port Mac would make it easier for the Queerslanders to attend
i think
No worries MR 185651.
As I said, it wasn't a big effort.
I've got a brown Casino AFR shirt hereabouts that Si organised for me even while organising the track/camping/ambos/insurance/barriers/tents/stunters/musak/delicious vegetarian food/black t shirts/heaps other things I forget etc etc.
I rang a hotel maybe 3 times and posted up hereabouts a dozen times to organise my two AFRs.
Easy Peasy.
So anyone interested in a run centered on the Oxley?
As I said...my spare time is limited, so speak up now mudderpluggers.
im in.
Oxley is perfect staying at port is easy with a good loop out
How about a Mt Gambier run for all the SA/Vic people that want something closer to them?
Oxley is fine by me, longer ride there is just more fun.
Righto so the weekend before the first is locked in and so is the idea of staying at port mac ?
Port mac would be a good one me thinks.
would it be ok ,Rich, To get the boys to lock in the dates for Port Mac then!
Oxley is a great run, I'll pencil in 29-30-31 March. My wifes brother lives there I'll ask him what pub would be the best, unless there is a local on here that knows.
Howsabout we all pencil in the dates. Anyone who needs to get time off, maybe ask the boss nicely now. If we fuck up the arrangements youse can all stay home and give the wife a good lick.
The location is still up for grabs.
Be nice to see if we get any more interest from Vic and any interest from Qld.
If youz want more interest from Victorians, make it closer to Victoria.
Well i it's up port way I'm coming in the ute. My fuel tank and spine Arnt interested in an almost 1600km round trip
