Man they must be a combination of extreme fun and abject terror to ride!
That thing looks like certain death to me[xx(] how the fuck would you stay on it[?][:0]
That r1 quad is fucking spot on, I have always wanted to do the same thing. That is porn.
This thing has a v8 http://www.bsmotoring.com/bsm/wcms/e..._shredde_1.jpg
Having ridden a quad I reckon the most important thing in something with as much grunt as those ^^^ would be getting them as close to the ground as possible for a low C of G, otherwide they'd tip you over the highside under hard cornering no matter how far you hung off (unless you could slide them 100% of the time) So Sharky's R1 powered job would be the least likely to kill you & the most fun on a wet track [:p]
Punting that R1 Quad around a bitumen race track would be the most physically demanding task I could think of, having legs like Tom Platz would be a necessity coz you'd be constantly fighting the BIG G forces to stay on it - especially with the grip those slicks would generate.
When I raced Supermoto years ago, they had a Quad class & the guys riding them told me that on the bitumen sections they could never corner with more than half throttle because there was too much grip & it was really hard to get the tail out to get round the corners like they could on the dirt. I saw a couple of blokes get highsided into orbit & carted off in the Ambo trying to make up time on the bitumen. :(
A 125cc shifter cart is hard enough work. I wouldn't be scared : ), setting it up so it could slide around would be the ticket. Or just doing burnouts would be good also. a kiwi had an 1100 quad and would race against possum bourne etc on dirt mind you.Quote:

Agreed - you'd have to set it up to drift or at least have enough power to break traction at the rear to steer it, especially with a live axle. ;)
i did post up here a long time ago a bloke in adelaide who put a 06 zx10r motor in a quad but had it still setup for dirt!!
