A short but brisk 273k (170 mile) loop today.

Living the dream Tony! Living the dream.
Yeah, 3 days work in the last 3 weeks,
getting in plenty of rides out and about but
my "dream" is starting to run low on funds!
Now how did you manage that?
Found the pic on a photographers website.
Looks like Mt Glorious.
Must be an old pic, I think that's a 2012 rego label ?
A quick 298k / 185 mile spin North this morning around Malaney, Kenilworth and Obi Obi to find breakfast.

3,500k's of tinkering and I'm done.
Played with front preload, rebound and compression, rear preload, compression and rebound.
Started with MCN suspension guide, various tyre pressures and with / without 30mm jack-up blocks.
Doubt I can improve further without spending $$'s and the rest of the bike doesn't justify that.

verdict?
As a big heavy low tech bike, that's still wearing its original suspension after 6 years... OK.
It makes me ride smoother, can't haunt it up on the brakes and fire it out on the throttle
like I can on the B-King. Nice and flowing suits it better or it get out of shape.
It doesn't ground out any longer, tips in and steers nice, pretty stable. Only downside
would be its getting a little vague at speed, "lose your licence" speeds won't suit it but
that's not what I use it for 99% of the time.
I think the 30mm lift on the rear is on the high side. Way better than standard for what I
want but wouldn't want any more. I'm only 80kg and I can tell if I have the preload wound
up to high.
I've owned a lot worse and have other things I should be playing with. It'll do.
u could do worse.. they are what they are but hard not to love the way they ride
I'll keep tinkering away ready for that "GSX14 - Zephyr11" back to back comparison.
Imo all of the moden big bore nakeds like the 1400 started with the zephyr
so they arnt to disimula, the 1400 has lots more grunt than the std zeph but there is just someting about
the way a zephyr rides and carries its weight that you fall in love with and I have to say no 1400, xjr , cb etc is ever
going to look as good as a zephyr doing it
next question is do I only letr you test the sane one... or do u get a ride on the mental insane jobby lol
GSX1100G was a "modern big bore naked" before the ZR1100 I think ?
They went for a finned engine / chrome clocks and head light etc but then went all
sensible with the shaft drive and monoshock and completely missed the retro market
that was about to open up.
mono shock but same yr i think, the zephyr 91/92 and the g 92ish but not a fare fight lol
GSX1100G was certainly early 91, but the naked Blackbird X11 was a year or two before even that.
Zephyr was certainly the first of the big 4's retro's though.
dam tooting lol
after having the 11g as a dirt dragger i dont know about it on the road i reckon the weight and the rake/trail its got would make it great and stable on long runs but slow to handle the twisties , but the motor is so grunty down low and i couldnt fault the shaft for its strength , the old man had a zephyr 11 and he hated it everything about it , he had always been a zed man but didnt like the zephyr , wished he still had it but id take it off his hands , though i am always looking for 750 zef
750 was always my favourite of the Zephyr's, had two of them.
Only one that got the frame and looks right without the big casting near the swingarm (sorry Ozzy)
Did some huge miles around France on mine.
Soft suspension and a tame"ish" motor but I always had this vision of one with
modern running gear and a Gpz750 Turbo motor. A sort of modern mental Z650.
750 is the closet looking to the org z
but to small IMO
The 1100 is ether love or hate type deal
they are not with out drama but they look way to good lol
Sounds like my ex lol
80,000+ K's,
15 year old suspension,
original rubber brake lines,
rock hard old Conti-Force touring tyre on the back,
still got the original rear guard and indicators,
I bloody love it!
Today.....

Found just over 4k's of road I didn't know was there !
Not that unusual, but its similar to Clear Mt Rd and quite close to home.

B-Kings with decent tyres will get the pegs down, but its not that common.
I thought removing the hero bolts, being 80kg's, not taking a pillion, using a taller tyre and firm suspension
it wasn't going to be an issue anymore. Came home with a big grin today, now
it'll spark and grind the side stand....
I almost went up there today tony but my hang over won.....
Had a crappy end to the week, smashed my thumb and ate dust all day Friday,
needed a lazy morning, it was as far as I went.
Be good to meet a few ASF folk up there some time.
Cops don't seem as full on as in the past and folk could do a pre or post cafe ride.
It's what I do sometimes tony just ride there for coffee
Then come home to the shed
Parked up with my dented tank and gravel rash'd damage at the cafe,
next to me parked a Hayabusa that had been down the road on it side.
Later a GSXR1000 pulled up in line, panels missing and road rash all along it.
LOL... bloody Suzuki owners !
D'you drop the 14 Tony? What happened?
Good to catch up with both Bob and Puppet at the Cafe on Glorious today.
Both on bikes I didn't know they had !
It was good to have a cuppa and chin wag tony.
On the road before 6am, nice and cool and less traffic for the public hol Monday.
A "Spirited" 223k's (138 miles) and home in time for breakfast.

Maybe you should come to 1770 ozzy and put some Km on that bike?
Much to do I have
Time will tell it shall
Got down to Kangaroo Valley this morning. Road works south of Kiama/Gerringong was flowing pretty well and the only others on the road from Berry to kangaroo Valley besides myself was a bush turkey. Sooo sweet, what a difference a week makes. A week ago the whole route would of been chockers with holiday traffic.

Forgive me if this is a Tony only thread, haven't seen many other other rides on here.

The idiot State Premier has been voted out.

UK crash helmets become legal here today.
Petrol is $1 a ltr (52p to the Pommies)

A nice 242k / 150 mile play this morning.
