thanks Dan! yup its gunna start upright into the sky
Wow man, this is radical! Nice work Surt.
thanks heaps man! nothins to radical for a russian anarchist haha
pipe works pretty much over, made the connecting pipe from a 90 degree elbow, fitting has taken awhile but the results worth that - no gap between the pipe ends

just to weld a bov and air temp sensor bungs

had to cut off and to relocate the breather bung

the zaust pipes flange holes were finally milled, the rest of it is my part - 83 holes must be drilled lol
plus 7 holes for the turbine and wg mounting

looking great Surt.;)
Where did you get the BOV from? I had exactly the same looking one because it was compact and cheap off of that sight that shall not be named, and just could not get the damn piston to seal, and if it did seal it was too tight to opperate. I had a 2 piston o-rings fail which leads to a vacuum/boost leak and fucks up all the fueling.
But, i have had good luck with the cheap Greddy diaphram type BOV's. Alot easier to work with and more reliable in opperation. But are a bit bigger to mount.
Keep them piccy's coming though, always luv your updates :D
thanks for the feedback and info on the bloody bov slingy i'll disassemble mine to see its inners. i guess ur 2nd take was smth lke that 1?

i have a similar 1 as well for my other project, just sad to hear that i wasted coin on 2 piston type bovs, i liked them bein just compact. and i bought them from evil bay, no need to be shy on here lol
wat ever it took just 90 min to drill around the flange

See if you can make em work first, but i spent way too long messing with them.
2 little checks you can straight up with just lung power.
First, suck and blow into the nipple (ooh er missus) in the top, if you can endlessly suck air through it (as mine did) then the piston isnt sealing which will not only cause a manifold leak but means the piston will fail to rise.
Then, turn around and try sucking and blowing through the large hole, again, they probably wont seal, but this is easier to fix with a fatter section O-ring, and its something i've done with all my el cheapo BOV's
If you want small, light and robust, you cant beat the Bosch one as used OEM on saab's, renaults etc. Its a very good unit and can be scored cheap from the wreckers or ebay.
yup ive tested it today like you said slingy everything seemed alrighty, there was vacuum when suckin and no noticable leaking when blowin. it also came with a spare stiffer spring, smth like 15psi rated and the one inside is set for 7psi
Cool, maybe they've changed the design abit then, i had mine like 2 yrs ago so could of changed it.
Just remember as well, that the spring only has to be strong enough to create a good seal when static. This may be only say 5psi of spring pressure, but it will still work with 15psi of boost.
This is because the 15psi of boost will be trying to push the bov open, but, via the vacuum pipe on the top from the manifold you will have 15psi boost referenced to the top, plus your origional 5psi of spring pressure so you will effectively have 20psi of force holding it shut. ;)
I have mine set quite light so durring off boost its open via the vacuum from the manifold and acts abit like a priority breather, then it will close under boost and seals fine.
thanks again slingy. which exactly bov d'you use?
the flange is almost finished

looking good in every position

fabbin the lower tank

This one. Just a Greddy copy diaphram type BOV
with the lightest spring fitted.

yup, so called rs type bov that ive got for my other project. but i thought both of them r of the similar construction just different design, arent they? i also cant understand slingy how urs can work as a priority breather once it opens one way?
Well, mine will open with just engine vacuum while running, so all off boost riding and criusing, the bov is open so the engine is sucking a good qantity of it air from the bov outlet rather than through the turbo and upipe. When you crack the throttle open the vacuum drops, the bov shuts and the turbo pressurises the system and the bov stays shut untill the next gearchange and throttle close.
if so it must be open when the engines not running?
Maybe not. The vac will hold it slightly open when the engine is running. when the engine is off(no vac) the slight spring pressure would keep it closed. Slingy are you concerned about unfiltered air going into your motor? i know it wouldn't be much but i was always told any dust is bad.
i dont get it! vacuum suck in the valve puttin it into its seat, so a slightest spring does in the same direction, coz it pushes down the valve. but when ur havin a positive pressure, air works against the spring and the valve pops up. i would understand if the valve was reed-type, i.e. had holes and a membrane...
as for the unfiltered air i have the same feeling mate
plumb back ?
