Jack is a top bloke & is happy to spend time to answer any questions you may have.
Going to be busy with work for the next 7 days so wont get a chance to do any thing. Did manage to make up some card board templates so you guys can see the exact shape they will be. I have a jigsaw, can a jigsaw cut 10mm thick aluminium ? If so maybe I could cut these brackets out of 10mm & then double them up to make 20mm .
Edit- Ok, so I searched online & yeah you can cut 10mm thick aluminium with a jigsaw !
So I'm going to try it, probably have to wait a week or 2.

Lithium battery mounted.

My stock reg/rec shat itself. Cost me a new battery blowing up a balloon to figure out what the problem was...

That bracket looks like a much better idea mate. You'll be glad you went to the extra effort.
Yeah, the more I look at those L angle brackets the worst they look ! :o
But that's what I like about these forums, some times it takes a few people to say "hay, re-think those brackets" & then you can come up with a new plan. I don't mind constructive criticism.
Those brackets have helped me to get the subframe attached & lined up, so they have helped me out.
Busy at work, so no time to do anything. Thought I would post up some pic's of how it was when I got it.
Lots of small damage, but the main stuff was ok (wheels, forks, electric's, speedo, swingarm).

wow mate! that's some awesome work in what little space you have to work in! the progress is going well, keep the pic's coming.
Well done mate, good to see another VTR being built,
With the tail you'll find it is too long.I cut 50mm from mine looks heaps better.
Also if you can find another wrecked rear subframe,I would cut the btm rails
And tig it to the one you have ,looks better and stronger.
Here is a veiw of what I did.
http://ozfirestorm.proboards.com/thread/13656/cbr-tail-2
Hi erno, I went a different way, instead of cutting 50mm out of the subframe, I have moved the front/rear seat's & rear fairing forward 50mm so I didn't need to cut the subframe. And I am not using the rear fairing as stock, I have chopped about 170mm out of it, so my rear end should be around 220mm shorter than stock! ;)
I got some time to make up some new subframe brackets. :D
Went & got some aluminium flat bar,
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5019.jpg
Traced my cardboard templates onto the flat bar & grabbed my jigsaw, ended up with these,
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5033.jpg
This is how they look,
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5034.jpg
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5040.jpg
Might paint them black, not sure yet. Anyway, took me around 3 hours to make.
And I gotta say thanks to xa-mont & wackyrider for offering to draw the brackets up in there computers for the water jet people, its guys like you that make this forum AWESOME !! :p
Mounted my screen,
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5459.jpg
Looks much better bloke
Nice :)
those brackets are about a trillion times better! great job mate. it's helpfull having inspirational people like surt around doing all this shit with basic tools... i'm way too impatient for that shit and prefer to do with with cheety technology :D
Now you're talking mate! Well done.
I got a 07 cbr1000rr rear fairing, it's busted up a bit, but I'm going to try some thing with it. A little cut & chop.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5349.jpg
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5348.jpg
Also got a cbr600rr rear seat, think it was 2008 (to tired to think right now) it is a little bit small, but should do the job for now.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5380.jpg
You can see in this pic, one of the cracks, around 15cm's long, there is also 2 more cracks on the other side.
And you can also see how the cbr600rr seat is a little bit small.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/.../DSCF5379a.jpg
Going to try & plastic weld the cracks with my soldering iron,
If it doesn't work I might just put some 1000 stickers over the crack, cause the crack is about the same spot the original stickers go. See how it goes, not to fussed if it doesn't work.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5421.jpg
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5428.jpg
Not sure how strong it will be ? Might need to melt some plastic zip ties into it.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5427.jpg
And if you didn't notice, I have cut around 17cm from the rear of the fairing.
I new it was going to be to long from the start & was always planning on giving it the chop.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5426.jpg
Nice job mate
The R/R should get plenty of air in there.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5468.jpg
speedy work. nice one.
Got some vents for the rear fairing.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5079.jpg
Going to drill some holes in the back of the right hand side vent so more air gets to the R/R,
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...0/DSCF5078.jpg
Starting to come together,
