Cheers dude but its got nothing to do with me!
I turned up with a bike and an idea and the rest is Ben. The man's a fucking geenyus
Sometimes Ben doesn't even need the idea! Blokes a Legend!
The bike is looking the goods, keep them coming!!!
Any updates on this Dave?
I haven't been able to get down to Ben's and I know he's been flat out with other bits. But the top clamp and subframe have been anodised and headers the headers went off to be power coated last week.
Stuff left to do is make a new water overflow tank, finish the seat, re-shape the side panels that are left after the plastics have come off and get the thing painted.
All the new bits like rearsets, grips, mirrors and lights are all ready. It's just a bit of tarting it up and it's good to go.
Going to get it stuck into Rapid too as Geoff is apparently keen to see it and we can re balance the POV of Bens work too. I'll see if I can get some pic from Ben.
Things are getting closer to ride day and the final tweaks are being put to the new build parts before it goes off to get some lipstick at the paint shop
Anodising and powder coating is done. This is the top clamp now and you can see the V-rod headlight is sitting back nicely against the frame. It looked like it might stick out a mile to start because of the air intake but Bens master touch has fixed it up nicely. Attachment 4340
This is pretty trick - check out the indicators and where the ignition now sits:

The box Ben built to sit inside the new subframe is brilliant - all the electrics, PC and new lithium battery fit pretty snuggly inside

thats looking good mate
And this is the side before it gets painted up. The wheel base looks a lot shorter for some reason and without all that weight on the front, it's going to feel like it wants to mono everywhere. However sod that - I need to master a mono a lot better than i have before i risk that seat unit getting closer to the tarmac

that subframe gets me hard
/\/\/\ what he said /\/\/\/\
Very nice mate.
You had better be riding this to NFC this year Dave, I wanna see it in person.
Nice work, Ben and Dave.
Very nice, that whole tail section is porn.
nice bike mate!
the subbie looks familiar lol
There's been a bit of a delay on getting the painters sorted. So Ben's multi-talented tool kit means he's started the job himself. These are only shots of the front and back guards but the tank and tail unit will have similar detail.
Some carbon vinyl is coming from the states so the stripe matches the pattern on the guards. Then its a final coat, on with the seat and it's finished.
Well nearly. I'm going to get some round indicators for the back end as the ones off the original bike don't look ideal.

Been away for a while, very nice build mate!
Coming along nicely Dave
That's a sweet looking ride all ways like the cafe racer look.
Getting close to ride day. Bens finished the paintwork and now it's just a case of getting the seat fitted.
I know I shouldn't be surprised as it's Ben's work but I think it looks better than I'd imagined. The sub-frame makes it as it sorts the lines out nicely but I really didn't expect it to have come together so it almost looks like it was supposed to be that way.
Geoff from Rapid is taking pics of it next Tuesday so we can get some well deserved coverage for Bens work in the mag.

Wow! Now that is a very fresh take on a ZX10 mate. I like it. Nice one.
thats looks great well done
looks very nice :D
O dear... thats fucking yum!
Tasty
Number plate bracket is bent :)
That looks great, well done to all.
Nice looking bike mate. That's come up a treat
Love it, great job. Really comes together with the paint on the panels ;-)
That looks awesome, hate the hugger makes it too bizzy.
Looks great.
black it out , to blend it with the tyre ?
it was carbon fibre to start but its difficult to get a short one. There were shorty huggers out there but they had really triangular lines and didn't match an older cafe racer look.
might be best to just get another one and cut it down. Now the arse is quite a bit shorter, stock huggers line up with the end of the tail and it looks too much.
I've sold 2 cars to get the fucker built (well ones gone, one's got to go now) so i'm cleaned out now! It'll have to wait.
I'd try some mat vinyl wrap over it first, then maybe airbrush some mat black tread over the vinyl. You can always peel it off if you dont like the effect.
Woah hold up guys, at least wait till you see the thing all together before you start changing it guys...
Looking after another baby
That would look hot with an 8" rear wheel
