Hey VTRFighter. I'm not quite down the track as far as you but I've installed my radiator at the front without the PAIR mod as I was unaware this could be done. Any chance you can provide me with some info on how to do the PAIR mod or point me in the right direction? A little more room for the rad would be great. Thanks.
First thing you need to do is purchase some plates (or make em yourself) i just went for the plain el cheapo ones like below cause you cant even see them.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Alum-...Q5fAccessories
next thing you need to do is remove the hosing to the standard smog plates, which look something like this...

Front one is easy, back one you need to remove seat and tank, then remove bolt on petcock/valve (depending on year model) to get access to it...
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMGP1430.jpg
You need to remove the valve (be careful not to damage gasket)
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMGP1433.jpg
what you need to do next is remove the small screw at the top holding in the stopper and flip it over (see pics)
BEFORE

AFTER
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMGP1434.jpg
all you need to do then is put them back in and bolt the blank off plate on top..
Next you need to remove air box and pull all related hoses off and on the bottom of the air box you will find a valve (kinda like a cars heater tap) Unscrew this..the small mounting tabs left i cut off and blocked up mainly cause this is where i mounted my front coil and i needed the space
Valve

and that's about all there is to it..By what i have read this is a minor performance mod but as i said i needed the room that's why i done it. There no real benefit from doing it, if you running a aftermarket exhaust it is said to run cooler and eliminate popping on deceleration. Also heard it makes dyno tuning a little more accurate?
Link below has some further info for you to read up on...hope this has helped :D

Thanks mate, that's much appreciated. I'll be really interested in your thoughts on the exhaust when you make the decision as I'm wondering where to go with that as well. One part of me loves the look of hi rise pipes like the Two Brothers Racing pipes but another part of me would like a stubby exhaust perpendicular in front of the rear wheel.
Yeah not sure on exhaust as yet i love the look of hi rise too but since i played around with the subframe/seat unit i dont think it would look very good? After front end is done im going to start looking around for a sssa and with that ill need to modify the rear cylinder header pipe to fit it, what i was also thinking of was a single stubby kinda like this below if i end up with a sssa, if i dont and use the std swinger im thinking the same but twin stubbies.. low mounted...Quote:

Hi rise would still look good as long as you match the angle of the pipes with the seat. That will obviously mean a bit of heating and bending on the pipe mid section. I have no idea how well they handle that. I like the stubby pipe (2 into 1) but I live in a relatively small town (Taree) and my stock pipes with the baffles removed were cause for comment from the local men in blue already. Once the VTR becomes a streetfighter it will stand out like dogs balls and become a target.
This is the essence of streetfighting.nice work mate...hows the engine temp with one rad?
Thanks Mate, not sure on the rad yet as it hasn't been tested, i need a temp sender and due to me currently remaking the brackets and raising it higher i may have to rethink the hose situation, any ideas?Quote:

Just thought I'd let you know I decided on TBR hi rise pipes. I ordered the aluminium but there was a two week wait so I'm being sent the titanium's for the same price. Got them through starcycle in the states. http://www.starcycle-usa.com/servlet...99-2000/Detail I think shipping will be about $140US. I'll put up a few photo's when I get them on.Quote:

Fkn Great post Mate - You inspired me, so yesterday i went out and bought the whole ass end from a VTR to mod to my ride. Hope I can touch base with you for some tips that you went through modifying the subframe. Will PM you =D
Excellent work ans she looks sweet!!
Go the VTR!
I tried to fit just one of my two on my VTR but couldnt seem to get it right and I was a bit worried about the lower water volume and no fan. Have you now tested the radiator? How does it temperature run? Its a lot hotter over their in oz so it you are running fine then I should be able to as well, although I'm guessing its not going to be too good in traffic, as mine hits 105 degress now with the original 2 radiators.
Hallo,
Great job on your VTR, did you manage to mount an electric fan?
