thanks heaps for the hints mates, i'll check up the nyalic, 'sit like wax stuff?
well i actually want a natural grey colour, perhaps some etching with a weak acid like vinegar would help? gunna try one after sanding
well sometimes the system fucks you (most of the time), sometimes you fuck the system
out of sudden today i got a chance to get the bike off my work, needless to remind you where i work and needless to say i grabbed it
home sweet home

Wow, unreal. Just looks like a ball of mechanical muscle.
Re. Nyalic, not a wax, goes on just like any spraypaint. I've used it on my polished VFR wheels (no more polishing, just wash them!), on my parents XB GT steering wheel that I restored, on my 35 year old fibreglass canoe... I always keep some around. The fact that the current spraypack is 9 years old is evidence of my lack of project time in that period, coincidentally the eldest of my three kids is 9 years old :) But the remnants of that can will be going on this thing as soon as I get my arse into gear and polish the frame and apply the custom 'chrome red' decals I had made for it:

The Aussie distributor Jeff has been the man for Nyalic for at least the last ten years and is very helpful if you have any queries. I don't know him personally and have nothing to do with the business or product, just a very satisified customer. I can't believe so few people know about the stuff to be honest. Maybe it's time for Jeff to move over for a more committed marketer.

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...-04-55-601.jpg
less than 200kg not bad! was surprised that bigger weight lies on the front wheel

Masonry drills like that work pretty well on hardened steel if you sharpen it...
-
yup i think i used them already drilling stainless steel a few years back. this time i drilled a 3 mm heat treated ally tho
-
pay attention to the latest pics above, the kick stand's straight and too short, and went under the chain and too close to the swinger. since the susps adjustable it needs an adjustable kick stand
so i cut off its heel, bent the leg aside on a hand tube bender (a small one), cut out a 40mm length of tubing to replace it with a threaded extention if the same length + 10mm extension on the lower part
btw the kick stand's made from stainless so i used the same material for extensions and nuts, the theaded rods made from heat treatable stainless steel and will be heat treated tomorrow

you know mate that is the best side stand leg I have ever seen the shape and the concept are fucking great
-
I do love this build, details are great
-
thanks heaps mates! ozzy im glad you like the bloody kick stand unless you're sarcastic lol
actually i can't see anything special about it, im a fan of buell xb's ally kick stand which i improved a bit

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/.../OZZLEM_84.jpg
-
the rear suspensions turned out to be a tad stiff to say the least so im gunna sort out the bugger
dissasembled the shock first
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF1314.jpg
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF1315.jpg
sand blasted the spring next

received a clutch master cyl from '11 zx 14 zero mile bike, just because i wanted it matching to the brake master cyl, $175+51
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF0474.jpg
also 3 matching reservoirs to use 'em around
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF0475.jpg
-
thats how about the slave cylinder
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF0473.jpg
and thats what it caused, the ex owner was a bloody lucky bastard, but still just a fucking bastard!
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSCF0459.jpg
-
now thats what i figured out concerning the rear susp stiffness. obviously, the dog bones to swinger mount is too low on the gixer swinger compared to the b12 swinger, thats why progression doesnt work
wrong way
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...476arrowed.jpg
right way
http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...477arrowed.jpg
a medicine is
1. to use a higher profile rocker
2. to use a longer shock
btw, the susp starts working when the bikes lowered, coz the angles'd change and become 'workable'
-
Do you have Autocad, really helps in situations like these!
Happy to draw a simple diagram if you give me the dimensions.
-
thanks lots Hagarr i believe ive sorted it out with the pics, later i'll buy smth like that http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/z/IE4AAOxy0x1TWdd9/$_57.JPG and play with home made rockers configuration
-
You can get copied versions, I've used the 2009 ACAD version for years (2D)
Paid about 10,000 Baht which was about 5 bucks Oz from memory.
Theres always someone going to Bali from Oz if you ever want us to grab you a copy.
Actually I can probably copy the one I've got if you wanted.
-
You can get a free mountain bike linkage design software that would prob sort it.

-
Looks good Red might use myself!
Couldn't find the "free" download, $10 is pretty cheap I guess for personal use.
-
thanks heaps Hagarr and Mohawk, i have a lot of progs on my puter but no time to study 'em, may be later lol
any one in the know of 2011-2013 GSXR 600/750s shock length?
-
There's a shock length sticky in one of the sections Surt. Technamickle section if I remember.
-
thanks Hagarr!
yup ive seen the table but it ends up with '04-'06 models like everywhere. but ive bought the above mentioned shock, pretty sure its longer than bandits and i'll be able to play with triangles anyway
-
figured out how to make the plenum securing mounts the best way and started their implementation
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...pscb405036.jpg
disassembled the shock further (and yup powder coated the spring) for paint job
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps6251c7db.jpg
then in a few days ive noticed that it'd leaked all the gas and half fliud out through the adjusting screw (the red arrow) wtf?!
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...psacdf8d54.jpg
anyone knows if i can part the remains at the spot pointed by the blue arrow?
-
any way the shocks gunna be used in my other project because ive got this
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...psf472977d.jpg
btw its 315mm eye to eye if some one likes to know
-
-
Fucking WOW! Off the dial mate!
-
Isnt it Si cant wait to see this thing turn wheels ...
Continuing to knock it out of the park Surt
-
hat off to you mate thats awsome
-
Surt, that tank looks fucking amazing. What's the finish?
-
-
Usual Surt handywork! i'm really looking forward to see this finished, Kudos for keeping up the pace you really have a lot of skill and patience.
Great stuff as usual!
-
thanks lots brothers, your compliments urge me ride on headlong
thats an acryl primer, now its become obvious that one colour scheme is no go, it needs aerography without fail. so let it stay as is until the bike is up and running and i've saved a coupla quids to pay for aerography, or i may try doing/learning it myself
here's like rites of shamanism usually go, have fan mates
