You don't get it because you think it's a racing style but nobody drifts intentionally in a race. Think of it as stunting for cars, then you'll get it.

Fair call I suppose but drifting is for the ethnics.
There are some cars out there that look good standing still... the rest are just transportation.

That last one is an all original GT-HO Phase 3 with a current price tag of $480k
Check it out here http://www.fordmusclecars.com.au/vie...sp?itemID=7124
Bet that guy is kicking himself he didn't sell it a year ago...
I know they were getting close to the $1 million dollar mark, just before the GFC.
Did any actually sell at that amount???
The prices for those things, or any Aussie muscle car, is just fucking rediculous.
I have a massive list of shit I would spend $485k on before I would buy a squeaky old Falcon.
48 boob jobs, for example.
Supply and demand I guess, if you are worth several million then 500k is probably not to much of a problem. And there were only 1500 odd made, god knows how many genuine are left so I guess you are more paying for the bragging rights than anything else.
I saw one sell at Shannons auctions a while back for $670,000 and it was by no means a mint car so perhaps 1 million is not far off the mark. Is it worth it? Not anymore it's not.... But then people pay lots of money for a Duff beer can, and you can't even drink what's inside!
Wank and bigger Wank more like it. Take a look at what you can buy in American Muscle for that sort of dollars. 1 Phase3 or hmmm a Boss 302 Mustangs, 3x 440ci Mopars and a few Camaro's with maybe enough left over for a convertable for the misses.
There were around 300 Phase 3's made, Even less Phase 2's which for many purest are the better car to buy. To my knowledge none ever sold for the magic 1 mill but there was an asking price for one at that price.
Better yet are the new GT's and HSV muscle cars, Ok maybe not muscle but they blow the doors off any old timer. If you had a spare 30k you can get into a McFuken Flurry of muscle cars at the moment with big horsepower just waiting to be enjoyed but not necessary authentic rare cars, Torana's, Falcons, Mustangs, Chev's etc
I got offered one of these in four doors and immaculate trim with original owners manual and matching numbers the other day for $5k.Quote:
Now I'm pretty sure it's worth a touch more than that on the open market. I just don't have the bullion laying around or it would have been all systems go..
My first car was one of those. Same colour too. 302 under the hood with a brown felt interior and kidney mags. Fucking rust got to it though and once it starts you just cant stop it in them
Something is only worth as much as your willing to pay, personally, i see a big arsed house and land with few toys left over for that kind of $$
i just bought an xb 4 door gt,,missing the motor n box ,i paid $6grand,sure it needs a rebuild, but hey when finished should be worth $40 to $50grand ,im planing on spending a further ten grand to complete,,i,ll post piccis ,in late jan
the silly thing with the xc cobra is ford could not sell the hardtop sales where dropping and had a shit load left over!! so they painted white with blue stripe and added a no to the build and presto sell like hot cakes !!!!
You are not thinking like a collector though, the less there are of anything then the more it is worth, Boss mustangs are like arseholes compared to a phase 3, one of our customers is a collctor of all sorts of stuff, he has a bakelite radio worth $50,000! And juke boxes worth fucken heaps. People pay crazy money for little squares of paper, such asQuote:

http://sammler.com/images2/sw4f.jpgNormally issued in green, one instance of a yellow variety of this stamp it was found in 1885 by Georg Wilhelm Backman on a letter during a visit to his grandmother. It was printed with the ink color meant for the 8 skilling banco of the same set.
1886 the stampdealer Heinrich Lichtenstein, Stockholm, bought the stamp for 7 kronor (SEK).
Philipp la Rénotière von Ferrary, well-known stampcollector, bought the stamp 1894 through the agency of Sigmund Friedl for 4,000 gulden (£400). At least in 1996 the stamp was sold for 2.5 million Swiss Franken (= $2.27 million) at David Feldmann S.A. in Geneve auction to an unknown collector.
More information about this stamp at the site of the swedish post museum

And there's a massive difference in driving an old school muscle car and a new shitbox Holden or HSv or whatever you want to badge it with. Old cars just fucken rock. They have class, style and balls. The new ones are just the plastic fantastic not too far removed from Rice rockets and have nothing to offer when it comes to comparison. To compare a 2010 V8 with a 1975 V8 I'll take the 75 hands down everytime because it has character and they're not a dime a dozen like the new shitters. they'll also still be around in another 50yrs unlike the new shit they're turning out today. Cars of today are like everything else - disposable. Once the life is up bin the fucker and go get a new one.
evilcarl if i had 30k id buy a torri,valiant,ph1 or 2 at the drop of a hat it all has pedigree and not a hsv or new gt has it
That's a really uninformed opinion I reckon.
- Have you ever driven a new model HSV or GT with a few mods? And I don't mean ya mates SS with a fully sik exhaust, I'm taking a new GT with after market supercharger or a chipped 6.2 litre HSV. I'm talking standard cars with a few mods and 700hp plus, fully street registered, total sleepers.
- The only reason old cars feel like they have balls is the tiny 14 or 15 inch wheels. True they have style, but that also comes with age. 30 years from now when we're all driving some crap electric cars with automatic everything, people will say an old 2010 HSV has style.
- As far as your concerns of plastic goes, the new cars have leather interior while the older have vinyl. People seem to concentrate their concerns on the plastic of the new cars but easily forget a BF GT has all alloy quad cam 4 value per cylinder heads, leather interior, Brembo brakes, an awesome diff and the features go on and on. I can assure you the new generation muscle cars are no more disposable then they were 30 years ago. Just new.
- Yes there are plenty of the new cars around, once again also because they are new, but in reality they didn't produce that many of them. Maybe less then 10,000 Falcon GT's to date, which is probably not that many more then the GT's produced in the 70's but with twice the population then we had then.
Sure the old GT's have something going for them, but not for the price asked these days. It depends on your intentions, they are certainly not practical for a daily drive while the new ones are, The old ones make great track cars if your into drags etc, but that's only because of the availability of parts and knowledge about the old motors. Nothing is cooler then to see a A9X or XY Falcon with a huge blower out the hood, but you can't compare that to a 500k Phase 3.
I'd have a sorted XA/XB ute over a modern one any day...
Less cars, more BOOBS.

wanna ford with balls that handles? then yOUr 30k is best spent here forget the V8s
Jim, you chav !

evilkarl i know where you are coming from ,im a mechianic hang on "automotive diagnostic technian" or shit slave to the bosses lol, get to drive bg gt regulary ,my brother in laws bg gt and his ba gt sure they have poke ,but no class as per a ph3 or 2 or 1 anyone can buy a new gt and drive it regulary and people look and go hmmm nice but jump in a ph 3 ph2 ph1 and drive it around and most people turn heads and drool ,my mate in darwin has a xy 4x4 ute only 432 made but his is one of 6 with 351 clevo made for the vic high country police! he paid $6 gs for it in 84 maybee 85 the ford discovery museum in vic has offered an open check but greg refused thank fuck for that!!!as it his pride and joy that no one else has! as the others 3 destroyed from bush fires and his 1 and the other two were destroyed in seperate accident's in the early 80's !! now greg and i always drove the fucker around and the feel of the ute ,knowing its history and pedigree always gave us and onlookers a smile now lets see that from a bg or hsv ute also.
the fastest 4 door production car in the world was the ph3 gt it took all these years and injection to topple the king !!!
if i had one it would be driven as much as possible ,
im a true car and bike freak i HATE commodores hsv or not when you go to 10 to 15 broken down shit box dunnydores a day and on average they are only 1 to 3 yrs old mind you from water pumps to fuel pumps to harness issues etc were as ford i only went to maybe 5 max a day and this was over a 6 yr period i was only a holden man till the vb then they went to shit from a mechs point of veiw.
but then again i am a factory trained landie mech aswell so give me a blown rangie anyday not much change from $170 g mind you
I hear ya ALBI. The Utes were very cool, Mate of mine had one also, but it wasn't a 351. Factory 6 I think, nice.
Phase 1's were OK. Phase 2's allot better and Phase3's are just for show ponies. But like I said, we're talking comparisons here and the half a million price tag. These Phase cars are over-rated by their shear overwhelming fame these days, They are not that great of a car, it's all just the hysteria around them that makes people think they are better then reality, but I guess being around them all my life and being in the GT owners club allot of years has tarnished my opinion. I'm not saying they are not cool, my XA GT was a very nice car to drive. But my BF GT is far superior in every way if you take the nostalgia out of the judgement. I still own an old car, albeit not a muscle car, 1972 TC Cortina with 250 2V and plenty of mods, nice car, lots of remarks about it but I wouldn't want to drive it daily and if one days someone told me it was worth 10k or 15k, it'd be signed over in a jiffy. I hope that happens before I take it to the tip.
Listened to a Doco the other day with Moffat talking about the PH 2 & 3 falcons at Bathurst, dodgy brakes and still did 165mph down conrod, Man that would have been a hell ride!!
Sorry but my BAXR6T has 300rwhp and will idle through 40 degree temps with AIRCON blasting, i'll sit and watch any Dick drive by thats paid far too much for a squeaky falcon anyday!!
Mate just paid 50k for a '57 two door pillarless and when I asked him (already knew the answer!) how it drove and he replied like a 50 year old car "Fucked"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA stupid boy!
