Bloody hell Ian, your not there to fuck spiders are you!! Good news mate, and like I said, yell out if you need help.
What size are the std head bolts /studs, and what tension is usual
the headgasket problem could either be from outright cyl pressures or more likely at 14 psi no intercooler that it was pinging lightly and if the head was held on better then the pistons are the next weakest link ...
need to solve the problem and not just not the symptoms
Seen the water/air intercooler KAWI is building on Psycobike , blow thru carb on a zx9 , very nice
Yep that the next step will run lower boost until the $$$$ are found
Head bolts are 10mm and 44nm from memory will check again shortly
All back in and running at boring boost :( its back to being a sweet friendly arming pulling ride instead of the screaming, angry, tear your arms off ride it was last week until it went pop. really need to start saving for/building an intercooler.
Thanks to Pav for coming down and helping out made it a fuck load easier to get done.
I wonder how much boost I can run with out it going pop??????????
lol just keep boosting it up a little at a time till it happens again mate ...
Also did this today. it was giving me the shits everytime I needed to remove my wheel with the speedo wire being in the way so

total of a $1.30 at Jaycar. I cut the sensor wire and fitted this just near the brake line guide, should make Life easier and seems to work sweet so far see how it hold up long term Attachment 696Attachment 697Attachment 698Attachment 699Attachment 700
Question for the people who know.
If I put a standard 't' piece ( with out the restriction in it) to reduce the boost spike what boost could I safely run without an intercooler?
And
When the intercooler is fitted what do you think the safe limit will be?
man you work fast. in the time since you picked up that boost guage i've managed to do 2 A/F ration data loggging rides. you've blown a motor, fitted a boost guage, done some wiring, rebuilt the top end and got it going again. do you sleep??
I used to run a Tee , with a 64 holley jet in the supply side , outlet to the wastegate
and 3rd side to a lpg soenoid
with a blank plug on its outlet drilled with the smallest drill in my set
then redid the pass switch to power the solenoid at will
back then the std comp gix 750 wastegate was set to 6psi and the pass switch venting pressure gave me 10 , eventually 10 burnt a piston and that started the rot ;)
Std head bolts can usually be pulled down a little more than spec, 3-5 ft lbs can make all the difference
busa bolts are 10mm and can go to 40 , HD replacement studs are 10mm and are recommended at 60ft/lbs
i use busa studs in the 750, just need some adapting spacers ,
I pulled them down to 50 will see what happens.
Let the fun begin :)
You are nuts mate! But I love ya work ;)
Bike checked. bleeder back in so if I feel the need I can up the boost again. Let's go blow some shit up :) I mean LET'S GO RACE

So got out and raced
put the 7 on the scale 232kg (fark me that heavy) + me so 334kg and a best best of 11.1 for the night.
Gunna work on it a bit having trouble getting off the line either bog down or wheelie to half+ track. More to come
Good one mate. Looks impressive if nothing else.
My 11 is 220 kg with a few liters in the tank. And that's a dirty old oil cooled lump
What mph were you getting
128mhp
Thinking of going back to stock on the front sprocket.
current is -1 +2
I think it may help off the line and more pull up top maybe sort of????
when we went to the xmas drags mine was running taller gearing than standard. i was only clicking 4th as i was going over the line. mine was real easy to get off the line. maybe cause of the gearing and only 6psi in first gear. didn't wheel stand or spin just went. only managed a 10.83 @133mph. a lot more left in it. getting it off the line is the challenge. as you are finding out.
Yella: I'd try that stock front sprocket. When are you going out next?
The Sunday test and tune was with the standard front sprocket :D still didn't help
A bit better at 11.0 but still needs sand bags to keep the front down :D
