im just looking into vapour blasting now (might be ending up with a side line biz out of it )
from what I have read there is something about the process that stops the ally oxidizing
so you can leave raw and it will only ever dull not change but as yet havnt been able to verify
up here you can have it done but last time scotty had it done it was over 700 for the cases, barrels, head, cam cover etc
so a bit pricey but fuck me I cant say just how good it looks
i hope to be able to do at around $75 hr but its still planing and up in the air........
edit that just remembered my head had it done and is raw and hasnt oxidized so quess its true then lol
fuk meeeeeeee!!!!! 7 hundy!!!!!! thats more than my engine!!!
well if your gonna start doing it on the side i may just hang off for a bit.
but i do like the idea that i could leave it raw.
maybe you can do a test run on your new Z650/750..... LoL!
no the 1100 motor is def the 1st in if it all pans out and thats a big if
price it out down there and see what people say
mind if you moveing to briz lol
hey guy's im back after an awesome 2 weeks in NZ and got back to find some beautiful Aqua blasted engine cases on my desk!!!

came out nice, first on your list should be deciding what piston size you want and wether the case will need to be bored out.
a set of heavy duty APE studs and a main bearing support plate (top of main bearing support needs to be machined flat to fit one) would be a good start to the parts collection.
and DO NOT buy those stainess case bolt sets you see on egay, they are absolute shit and a complete waste of money.
i been wondering where you been. looking forward to this build
haha its all good i diddnt go too far...
good to know EFE i have a set of them on my watch list.
as for pistons ill wait to see whats inside my other engine and go from there.
the bolt set threads aren't cut right and they grab the case threads make a "tink" noise then snap (ask me how I know) and they also vary in length compared with factory bolts and will break through the engine case when done up (ask me how I know)
at least I be smart enuff to try dem on junk cases first uh huh......
told ya that aqua blasting is the bomb lol
btw got a bit under 1k and you can buy my full brand new 1230 piston sleave wrist pins and rings kit looks like im going big block
to stay ahead of the rest of ya's :-)
that sould be mtc full 1230 kit
That's looking very nice indeedy mate and am keen to see what gets put on your engine shopping list. Big Block Lynton, Hmmm I think that's a red herring and you've got something else up yer sleeve.
la la la la la i cant hear you Ozzy......... as my monney pit is getting very empty!
but yep i want to Aqua blast everything!
I would rate wiseco above mtc weight wise, the 1134 mtc pistons in mine have been shaved and trimmed everywhere possible to shed the weight and they still weigh more than 1260 wiseco's.
not a problem for road use but not what you want on a drag motuer as the more weight on the end of the rod the more it will stretch at revs (normally allow for about 2mm I think).
you picked the wrong type of bike for a low monney pit as if I can talk llol
no red anything old boy there is the old 1463 big block of a bike I did some crew work for at the track
on the shelf at scotty's thats the pic in my build thread. might be 1420 the 1463 or even 1500 but wont make any more hp but more grunt and a sand cast big block just looks the dogs
mate in a drag motor mtc all the way over wiseco from what I have seen at the track and in the workshop imo
that came out beautifully! how much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?
Quoted $100 for paint stripping and blasting came out at $128!!! Im Stoked!
He's an old retired guy so it's cheap as...
That is cheep last full motor my mate had done was 700
that is why I might be doing it as a side biz.... But under 200 Fucken hell
