call me old fashioned but isn't this trend of sharply kicked up seat units really uncomfortable to ride any distance? Aren't you completely wedged between the seat and the tank? It doesn't look like touring material to me. Christ I must be getting old to even ask that question and I'm not even 40

Apparently they arnt quite as bad as u'd think tho hey! As long as there is some padding n u make enuf pit stops anything is possible...
If you look carefully you will notice that on a lot of the German style bikes the tail itself goes skyward but the seat part stays pretty flat.
