2 grand souds cheap to me. What type of visa you going for? Ae u applying yourself or going through an agent? The fees at the DIMIA aren't expnsive but you also don't get much info off them on what type of visa you neeed to apply for. Just to give you an idea, it cost my work just over $5000 to sponsor me through a migration agent (and that's for a 4 yr visa, not permanent). Make sure you do your homework on it beforehand, and don't go thinking you can just apply for a De-facto visa either.
