Gusy we have been very innactive on this forum so far - sorry!!

So. here is what has been keeping us busy

We are now Syndey's newest triumph dealer. That measn parts accessories etc will now be available from us for all Triumph. As we do a mail order service we can ship Triumph parts Aus wide.

We have also got planned a Hyosung streetfighter that one of our mechanics is doing up. I recently rode our cafe racer Hyo at eastern creek back to back off my F4 MV. Man that little hyo was a cracker. What an under rated bike for customising. We have been now tracking down parts etc for customuisation of hyosung which will make it easier.

Open DAY - and finally our open day again. This has taken a lot of planning and still going. We will now have Triumphs there as well.

Barry Sheene - We will be at the Barry Sheene Festival of speed with an MV Agusta stand also. So this has taken a bit of time. SO please stay tuned we plan to get more involved and get to more events when this latest little storm of activity dies down a touch.

A Hunkodung, come on mate get real, they are cheap underpowered shit box's made out of crap metal.

Ahh yes I love a great red neck response - yea haa. SO lets get some stats. Also good to see you could comment here, but not on the raffle for a charity, the efforts of an aussie shop, introduction of who you are etc. What is that saying your mum would have taught you, nothing nice to say blah blah blah.

Hyosung: They one the class in forumula extreme, beating off ducati 696 and 400 fours. Many yamaha are now made in vietnam, ducati thailand, kawasaki china. The Hyosung uses an SV650 engine with some more tuning done to it actaully still designed in Japan and built in korea. They use Delfi ignition systems now with data logging capability.

We have been servicing some of the fx race bikes and have seen far more problems with the Ducati's. The only Hyosung issue has been replacing reg/rec's as they burn out with no load etc on them. A $150 mod and sorted. Most here are even racing on stock suspenders as they have adjustability and the Dukes dont.

The engines are now very good. Build quality on nuts bolts etc and metal coatings, not good. As an entry level bike for young ones starting into riding they are excellent as you get a 650 v - twin. They have proven so popular in the USA that Race Tech Suspension does a special kit for racing them and street riding. ATK USA are selling them under licence as the `second american brand see;

Yes we do need young people to keep the motorcycle scene alive - so young people can customise, have fun and learn about the sport and not go broke doing it. Ever heard of hyundai and the world rally championship.

I remember when toyota started out as a youngen and all the old no hopers saying, ahh toyota is crap and who would buy a toyota. Now they are racing nascar and those closed minded boffins are probably driving a toyota cressida on the way to their government funded retirement village as their knowledge got them so far in life, now saying how good Toyota are.

Give me some lap times you have done and I will find a hyo race card to put it against. Again from my end just facts openly available to those who seek them.

I still love my MV's and also am a big Triumph fan. I can also see that a new bike on your L's that is sub 7k and gets a v-twin note with 2 years warranty and derestricted - with me on it (100kg) pulled 210k down the straight at eastern creek bog stock, is in fact a good way to go.

So anyone wants to build a good cheap streetfighter dont be put off - speak to people who know!!

Ahh I love a good forum venting. I am sure this got some hairs up - not meant to. I just not a fan of negativity and like to focus on the positives in life. Yes they are no MV AGusta but they sure as hell are a great way to get into a great sport - I love ALL facets of motorcycling and with these days of government regs etc I want to support and gorw the sport and support newcomers.

ALSO before anyone fires up. No offence meant to anyone here, just my view as someone who has raced for over 20 years, owns a bike shop, a qualified mechanic. Trained in factories in Italy at MV Agusta and Husqvarna. I just think they are good for what they are.

I am not saying HYO is pefect I am saying they are great for what they are for people to make something cool for them to enjoy. For me it is about what the rider enjoys. So any HYO readers on the forum ( I actually know of a few) stand proud!!

Well J as for a red neck response, I too have been a mechanic for many years and have worked with this shit from the beginning of their release into the Australian market, I have also worked with Aprilia, Husqvarna, Kawasaki and Suzuki.

Im so sorry I didn't notice your raffle for charity and as for if you have nothing nice to say blahblah can you imagine what shit we would all be in if we only said nice things.

I have seen allot of young riders blow there cash on a Hunkodung when their money would have been much better spent on a second hand Japanese machine.
You are right we do need young people to keep the motorcycling scene alive but we don't need them put off motorcycling by inferior cheap rubbish.

The Hunkodung does not use an SV650 motor it uses an imitation of one, but in the same way you wouldn't buy a Rolex in Vietnam now would you?
The reason you can have an unrestricted Hunka 650 on lams is because it doesn't create enough horse power to need to be restricted, but its funny how an SV650 does have to be restricted.

As for lap times this has to do with the rider at most peoples level so a pretty stupid comment, I would like to put money on a RGV250 back to back with your beloved Hunka 650 with the same race rider I think the old out dated 2 stoke would still hold its own.

So anyone wants to build a good cheap Streetfighter don't be buying a Hunkadung, buy yourself a good second hand Jap bike and everyone will see you have spoken to people who know!!

I just think they are crap for what they are I'm not saying they wont get better in time if they last as most brands do with the exception of Laverda.

I have not worked on any of the current generation of Hunkadung so if there has been some grownd breaking changes in there makeup I stand corrected.

Mate - I have to say I get very defensive on forums, the old once bitten twice shy. Your response is nothing short of accurate and informative. I would have to agree that the old ones - whoa man - what a disaster zone. I have had the shop for 3 years now and even the generation of hyo when we started was a nightmare.

As we started to get some servicing for the late ones we all noticed a change for the better. The biggest issue till recently still being electrical.

Now with the delfi system we are seeing them really going great guns. I still have to question some of the finish on some of the bits and pieces though.

I can honestly say that in the last year we have not done one mechanical warranty as there has been none. All have been stator and rec reg. The other BIG issue is people taking them home an dhaving a crack at playing with the throttle bodies to derestrict them.

Mate I probably jumped the gun a bit!! I am known for that, but as stated forums tend to bring out the warst in bike shop owners as we all cop a lot of flack and very very little thanks. You obv iously know your stuff and your comment was based on your experiences, which are actually in my view pretty valid.

I do think this later gen hyo are actually pretty good. I have my best mate on one, he couldnt afford anything else and we had a deal on. He has done 35,000k's on it and not one issue!! He has just fitted a pipe and off he goes.

i think brands like Hyosung are great for reasons other than the bikes they make... they push down prices of every other bike.

To come onto the market in direct competition with Suzuki (the SV) at about $5k less on the road at the time (i think... something like that anyway) dragged down SV prices a LOT.

Of course if you know your bikes, you know that an SV is a much more refined piece of kit (better quality components and whatnot) but by all accounts from SV diehards, the hyosung actually has a better engine. (in design anyway) It ISNT an SV donk, but it uses some design from the SV and improved on what is essentially a 15 year old engine.

I would never buy a hyosung, but for someone who wants a bit of go in a first bike, with a warranty (for the mechanically inept), you can't really go past it.

Didn't Hyo start by making Suzuki parts under some sort of license agreement ???

toyotas are not racing"the badge is" the engine ,box,diff,steering etc is all controlled by nascar,the basic body is composites and only have a little minor details to set the body appart and the badge ,that is it !!!

Yeah - I know bit of a joke really. More the point the yanks have accepted the badge now as a legitimate brand. DOnt nascar even have pushrods as a rule even!! and they just went to fuel injection!!! No expert here I just see soo many Toyota badges on Nascar these days it is kinda funny.

There's a bloke on here known as Mr.Hyosung. (Terry). He got his name because one year he had no bike for the AFR and went to his local dealer mate in Byron and hired a Hyosung. We laughed when he turned up on it as we'd heard they were shite. By the time we got half way to Macksville we shut up pretty quick. He was leading the pack. We were so impressed with what should have been shite that he's been known as Mr.Hyosung ever since, and he doesn't even own one!

Some funny comments here. At least this topic got some discussion, obviously my other posts too boring - so I will keep the interesting stuff coming from time to time!!! Really this wasnt about hyo - just about whats going on in the shop. As for teh shop itself, it is a really odd place. You think, we sell, MV Agusta, Triumph, Husqvarna (test rides next week on the NUDA yeay), Hyosung, Piaggio and Sea Doo jet skis. Now I look back at my life - rode a vespa when I was 16 heavy into the mod scene, got into ducatis, raced laverdas, had the first triumph speed triple fuel injected model in the lime green, live near the river and love going fast, like helping new guys to get into riding - so there is my shop!!! We actually chose our products around what we like.

One day I will bore people with my background, but I chose to start the business three years ago and give up a high paying job, basically because I could not stand the people I was working with. So put it all on the line and had been building bikes my whole life (well since 15 anyway!). Started in my garage and it has been growing ever since!! we still look outside most days and see 20-30 bikes waiting for workshop work and wonder where they are all coming from!!

What I am getting to here is that forums - for shop owners are freakin hard work, you literally take you income into your own hands and put comment out there that people will comment on and smash you for. There is a heap of stuff on foums about bad shops. Yet very few good comments. Sadly I agree with most the bad comments. Now I own a business man I see the challenges. Did you know our insurance for example is $44k per annum - due to the no of techs as well as bikes we have with public liability etc, what a joke. Our rent is $7800 a month!!! what the hell is that crap!!! so suddenly it becomes very very serious. This is the part I hate. Our family live and breathe bikes. My kids ride, my wife rides etc. So we really want to run a profitable business. We also want to run an honest business so I always put my opinion - for better or worse!!! out there.

I know I am rambling a bit here - 11pm and a octoberfest mug with jd and coke will do that!! Anyway I hope we can offer some good deals to the forum. The reason I embrace a few select forums is that. Knowledge is power and there is a lot of misinformation in forums, yet not many shops have the bbone to stand up an dhave a crack. I have found even on forums people are still pretty reasonable and honest, so it is also good for me to check we are staying the course for the shop as people will soon tell me if we are not!!! Anyway cheers. Thanks for the banter.

Oh and my latest project - a triumph scrambler custom!!! I love those things yet I know how daggy they are!!

and to top it of 4 more other makes are eyeballed for the series ,dodge,mazda and toyota are looking aswell.

the new cars are shorter all have the same driveline except for motor ,even the engine management ECU is the same "been like that for years now too! "".

now we have different makes "no biggie" but what engine is nissan using they dont have an v8 in australia ?? could be good for us if an other maker is going to make an rear wheel drive v8 ???? but fuck come on !! why do we have to copy all the time !!
