G'day guys, just showing some basic pics of my Bandit build process. I've missed lots of pics along the way but I'm not going back now !!

The pics dont show the process of changing all the switch gear over to 08 GSXR 1000, cutting down the muffler, cable mods for 08 throttle mech, wiring in the acewell dash, setting up the keyless ignition. Just basic overall shots of how it has changed.

mozza
12-04-2010, 08:55 PM
yeah it is a HEL one. The lines were really shit and extremly hard to fit and when I finally got them on the things pissed out oil everywhere, I was very lucky not to drop the bike. I had another set made locally and all good

mozza
12-04-2010, 09:07 PM
I've got a yoshi titanium tri oval that I'll cut down and mount under the chasis, I think it'll look o.k.
I'm just concerned with the exhaust gas spraying the back tyre ?

painters going well with a few small bits back today, also confirmed the tank colour which will hopefully be completed this week. Ended up with 1g speckle silver to 200g gloss black - it looks very similar to carbon fibre, which should go well with the rest of the bike

they look similar but I don't think there the same. The backing plate on mine seem to have more adjustment. By fitting the master cylinder on the outside was the only way it would line-up. I wasn't totally happy about it but it works !! Now that the master cylinder has been painted black it doesn't look too bad.

mozza
20-04-2010, 10:40 PM
rechecked the pics and they are different. Your master cyclinder mounts vertically on a curved bracket where mine mounts on an angle on a striaght bracket

Just a small update with a few pics.
I have now cut down the Yoshi titanium tri oval, removed 150mm and have left the baffle in to help with back pressure.
Lower tripple, engine mount and rear brake master painted satin black.
Fitted a tail eliminator, made by a guy locally, these are a really nice unit and cost $80 - he's on ebay as - mustardbikes.

Also I need some feedback on the exhaust mounting position, I was going to fit it underneath the bike but was pretty pleased at how it looks cut down and am now thinking of fitting it somewhere in the position shown in this pic ??

Comes with fat bar or regular risers
$990 each for 1-5
$790 each for 5-10
$590 each for 10+
As you can see there's a big discount for numbers.
So how many do you want ?

mozza
11-05-2010, 07:20 PM
hey guys, the wheels are left polished. I had polished rims before and their pretty easy to look after as long as you keep on top of them, from what I hear clear tends to flake badly on polished wheels so I've never risked it. From memory the top tripple was about $850 and I had a mate paint it here locally in 2 Pak.
These sort of things generally are'nt cheap but then again, I gave Ben a verbal of what I wanted with ball park dimensions and the tripple came back spot on what I had imagined - got to be happy with that !!! And the price was fair to say the least for the quality of workmanship.
P.s. The price also included risers and relocating the steering stops and swapping the stems over

mozza
11-05-2010, 07:37 PM
Thats the risers from my best mates GSX 1400, were looking forward to when mine is finished and we can get some pics of them both together.

I think Ben posted some pics of it along with the triple, 240 rear tyre, busa front, extended swinger.......I thought it was going to be a dog to ride but it gets along really well. Dont believe anyone who says big tyre bikes dont handle. I actually think its better than before !!

BANDITROD

Cool you've inspired me to do my wheels now. Unsure if thats a good thing or not, nearly went mad polishing the frame.

mozza
11-05-2010, 10:43 PM
If it helps I got mine done at GLM Polishers in S.Aust, they complete them for $180 per wheel. At that price it was an easy decision to let them do it and avoid all the hard work, plus they did an awesome job. My back wheel was fucked and I thought it was beyond recovery and after they did their work it cam up a treat.

Looks very tidy and professionally finished mate. One question though,
Is the rear brake line too long?

mozza
20-06-2010, 08:56 PM
yeah it is, I made the mistake in buying HEL lines instead of goodridge as in the past. I had that much trouble bleeding the rear brake I've convinced myself it doesn't look too bad ? What do you guys think ? Should I get a new line and do it again or does it pass ?

rod185651
20-06-2010, 09:14 PM
I think a shorter one will suite a lot better, especially considering the attention to detail you have displayed on the rest of the bike.

EXBEN
20-06-2010, 09:22 PM
Why don't you run the line up the torque arm & through the hole in the swingarm where the shock goes, or up behind the rearset, that would look neater & take up the extra length of line.

mozza
20-06-2010, 09:29 PM
Torque arm is a good idea, thanks Ben

TheBogyman
21-06-2010, 12:54 AM

Top work Moz, she looks awesome..

mozza
21-06-2010, 08:45 AM
Thanks boy's, I went with the silver lines as it seems to work well with the headlights and wheels, sometimes too much black can be a killer !

The front end is from a 2008 GSXR 1000, I had Ben make a top tripple for me that was stepped down about 20mm.

21-06-2010, 09:13 AM

Thanks JackTar, I could have done a lot more with it but didnt want to get carried away with it and end up with a bike I was too afraid to use and ride hard. My mates say I'm a bit anal with my gear, but then again if you want good gear you have to be a little fussy !

I'll post a pic of my XT 1968 Falcon that I recently did up and sold, I think most will like it, maybe even the Holden boy's!!

bit of news, I sent in a pic to readers rides for Streetfighters Mag and they wrote back and offered me a feature bike write up. I've ordered a Phantom 2 headlight unit so once it's installed I'll take a few decent pics and send them over and wait and see.
