I know this comes up every so often and there is sometimes a prob with the front 25mm axle, you have to machine the hub to suit bearings. But

Ducati Sports 1000 (or whatever they call it)

Front hub has bearings for a 25mm axle....not too sure about rear but I'm guessing std Ducati. They sell on eBay for about $1000 ish US for front & rear. 3.5x17 & 5.5x17 only prob is you'll wanna use the Brembo calipers from the same bike due to clearance issues, unless you can get a wider spread on the fork legs or (prolly not a good idea) shave the back of the caliper.A ebay bare front hub should set you back about $100 US delivered to your door.

Second option a few more $$$$$
Alpina due tubeless wire wheels for the Ducati (apparently will work with brembo 4 pot calipers), some honda and interstingly Buels as well with the rim mounted disc.
Prices start about $2500 US or so a pair (colour options available)...alot of $$$$ but pretty ball park for aftermarket wheels I guess.

Either hub will take dual discs and I believe not so recent Yamaha discs share the same mounting as the brembos.

I had a Sport1000. The stock wheels use tubes.
After getting stranded a long way from home with flats - twice - I fitted Alpina tubeless.
They are sweet.

was wondering about this kinda thing - cause I fkn hate 3 spoke rims - stemming from the VN-VS clubby era. and I was going to powdercoat mine black so they were harder to see!
need more pics of wire wheels!

Got some dimensions on the front hub:
Bearing - 6005 25x47x12
Oil seal - 35x47x7 TC type branded NAK (http://www.nak.com.au/seals/sealinq.php)

For a 20mm axle you will need
Bearing - 6204 20x47x14 bearing pocket is approx 19mm deep
Oil seal - 30x47x5 TC type

Or if you want to leave the STD bearings in, the spacer on a GSXR cush drive (the cush drive bearing has an ID of 25mm) can be used (with modding to length as needed) as a bearing sleeve

For a 17mm axle you will need
Bearing - 6303 17x47x14
Oil seal - 30x47x5

Disc mount face to disc mount face - 112.85mm
Bearing face to bearing face - 118.85

As for discs the ducati ones have either a 9.5mm or 10.5mm offset (info is a bit sketchy on this ATM), but if you need a larger offset 2002 748R/998R discs have a 15mm offset (duc part No.49240371A) (http://www.gothamcycles.com/servlet/the-3854/Ducati-Front-Brake-Discs/Detail)

The most common Ducati forks have a 50\54 diameter meaning there's a fair few GSXR USD clamps that will fit. Longest at 725mm appears to be ST3 (non ABS). Where as the majority come in at about 695mm.
For ya Slabby & Slingy models L\M (90\91) 750 triples would be the go. From what I can gather Ducati triples have a fork to fork center of 205mm and the GSXR clamps mentioned 214mm.

No details on rear hub\wheel yet

Was having a bit of a fiddle in the shed. Hopefully someone else can see the potential I can :) Looking at a "retro\modern" take on a cafe racer.

STD Slingy triples, Ducati Sport wheels & forks. Hopefully Ben will have a new front axle made up soonish. Saving to get a JMC arm (unbraced) to suit the Ducati rear sometime at the end of the year. She's a bit dirty and icky at the moment.

Anyone know if an Ohlins rear shock can be changed from a knuckle type bottom mount to a fork type ?
