Hey Guys, names Ray and I'm new to the forums, just thought I'd introduce myself.

I Finished yr12 in 2009, and got accepted into a Mechatronics engineering degree down in Melbourne, and I've deferred that for a year or more depending on how work goes and how much money I can get saved up. I work at a computer store, selling as you would expect, computers.

I'm into clubbing, shuffling and extreme sports. Bought my first motorbike last weekend, got a red 1997 Yamaha SZR-660 off my uncle and I'm thinking of doing a Streetfighter conversion but I've got no idea on component fabrication, or even how to change em over, so that's why I'm here, I wanna learn from the guys that know what they're doing.

So that's about it for now! If you've got any questions give me a shout and I'll be happy to answer them!

Bahahahahaa Typical engineer, sorry couldn't help myself...

Welcome bud, you've come to the right place.
If you want to be a GOOD engineer you'll need to know how to make stuff so when you design something you know it can be built.

Get some pics up of your ride.

Extreme sports hey? Like what?

wow thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Well yeah I'm from Shepp. The extreme sports I'm into are rollerblading, snowboarding, surfing, downhill MTB, and I wanna get into drifting and track racing with motorbikes (expensive hobbies, ouch)

The work I'm thinking of doing on the SZR are things like fairing removal, single sided swingarm (maybe), twin underseat exhaust conversion (might be easier to get an R1 rear and fit it), Digital Dials, new tailights / headlights / indicators. Im not too into the high / wide handlebars though. Got a bit of inspiration from the turbo busa that ghost rider guy has on youtube. Basically the best way I could summarise it, is think Ducati 1098 meets Triumph Speed Triple. But yeah like I said, got ZERO experience in motorbike modding, but its something I really want to get into.

The rough idea I have in mind for the SZR is something similar to this streetfighter conversion:
