For me it was My very first bike the RG 250
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/melgreen/RG250-1.jpg
I was 15 when I bought it in 1993, it had been crashed when I got it. Took me a year to restore it, couple of months riding it then I crashed it.

Here's my second RD350 1976. I had another green RD350A in'75, in Melbourne, that taught me how to ride[read learn how to fall off without killing myself!!], and wheelstand...before flying to work in Darwin rebuilding after cyclone Tracy. You'll probably see the dent in the tank, managed to throw myself on the deck at a stupidly fast pace, on a gravel intersection, and spent the next few weeks with both arms bandaged, my arse ground off, and a total loss of dignity[:o)].
I promptly bought a set of Konis, a bikini fairing, flat bars, and a set of expansion chambers......nothing changes:D
The drag racing was at Livingstone airstrip, just out of town, beside the Stuart highway. I won the under 550 class, against a Suzuki 550 triple.......ran 14.7sec 85mph.
I was living in the half converted bus/mobile home, intending to tour OZ in it, but it never happened.

Has anyone noticed all the 2 strokes on this page :)

Believe it or not I was a late starter. Getting pissed and sliding my mates' Fizzys and DTs down a gravel driveway every weekend at 16 after thinking it was a great surface for dragging each other just didn't cut the bacon for me when I knew I could get me a Ford Cortina which would carry beer and lads and do twice the speed of those little things. After wrapping said Cortina round a tree and blowing up the cavalier that followed I was given a lift into town on my mate's brand new released ZZR600 (1990) and he fucking caned it. Now that wasn't the sort of speed I remembered FS1Es doing and at 20 I discovered real bikes were what i had been missing in my life! "Where do I sign" I said. Apart from the GPZ500 twin (which we won't talk about and which I possesed for a week incedently) the ZZR600 was my first bike. '93 saw my first Streetfighter effort with a Z650 to accompany my '92 Fireblade - the ZZR replacement.

I kicked it all off with a mighty RZ500.

http://www.strappe.com/RZ500.jpg

It scared the hell out of me more often than not and was probably one of the only ones ever not fitted with an aftermarket steering damper, so I learned a hell of a lot about handling tankslappers.

thats because we re old and....2 strokes are insane fun
did u know suzuki only produced 2 strokes right up until 1976 when the gs came out,
and yamaha only had 2... four strokes then xs 500 xs 650 ,kawasaki had the biggest 4 stroke z900 [we wont mention the gold wing] of all the japs until 1977 but even their model range was dominated by 2 strokes[8D]
every body was watchin kenny roberts ,barry sheene, kork ballington, mick grant in the gps then ,,and u could get away with murder on the streets:D
granted a lot of ppl copped there whack in them days cos there was no tuition, but it was a luney time to be a biker

right rose tints off back to reality....now u need a certificate to cross the road cos everybodys shit scared of gettin sued by everybody else[}:)]

many moons ago,(1977), Ozkat and I invented a pure stunt machine which we named the "VTR-420".It was a pupose built stunt fighter with massive bottom end HP.After numerous solo runs,we decided that this thing had huge potential, but needed some rear end ballaust to maintain a consistent wheelstand. i was a little to light so i had to wear a wig for optimum balance.:D

We later sold this patent to Honda, and they decided to make it a production bike.Unfortunately the only bloke to by one was Ando,(an A grade stunter from this web site).

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/52414951713534.jpg

This result seemed to have a huge impact on Ozkat, and as a result,he now settles for nuthin less than drag bikes.;).I think its called the deffinition of frustration.[:0]

Probably the same reason I'm still alive... skill, strength, guts and determination, I used to wheelstand around corners... due to the fact of having wound throttle on because of being out of the power band, then 3 revs later... WHAM...in she kicks... them Mach 3's were a bit of a handful for a learner..;):D

yeah, they were a handful alright, 250's of today would be as quick or near as, but the frame, brakes and tyres made it ... er... exciting:)

I should also have added that I was bloody lucky, I decked it about 15mins after I bought it (second hand) but then it was my first ever bike, and I had only ridden a couple of times before it(around 1/2 hour total time)... should be interesting what pops up as first bikes:):)

i would like to add ..on picking up said FSI-E i was caught out by the "all down 4 speed box" took it back to the bloke at the shop and told him "ere mate this bikes fkd it wont come out of 1st!" at which point he pointed to the casing next to the gear lever and told me to fk off[^]

i aint got a pic(thankfully) of my first ride, was a clapped out cb100, with a bit of 2 inch gal pipe on the end for a exhaust cos the old one was m.i.a. the grandfather gave it to me as a pressie for making it to 12 without annoying him enough to kill me or lose me on his cattle property, five minutes after i got it, it was wrapped round the nearest ghost gum, been trying to avoid them trees jumping out in front of me ever since
